Photographer’s Note
3 photos today, same subject, different compos and exposures
....
Kuala Lumpur skyline from Lake Titiwangsa north of the city, taken after sunset after a solid overcast day, the wheel at right is Eye on Malaysia, the light changes color often. The wheel also stops moving at random (to let slow passengers in? maybe?) It had stopped when the camera started shooting, and immediately started spinning, that's why the cabins are discernible and blurred simultaneously, it's not a stitch.
The workshops will show different variations, but the Petronas towers landmarks appear smaller in those.

I did not know KL also have one of those wheels. Your three photos are wonderful and extremely well done. The sense of motion in the main posting is excellent and impressive.

Hi Tan,
A very compelling image with great details, lots of interest, and eye popping colors. Great shot and TFS. Gerald

You controlled the light very well here Tan, though I would have liked to see the entire wheel in this shot. But, I agree that this one is the best of the three, with the red lights in the wheel being very strong.
I trust you had a good trip through Malaysia, and Indonesia I think you were headed to...

No other angle would look better than this. Great sharpness and colors. Well done. Sothy

Very nicely done Tan! This is definitely my favourite of the three, here the wheel seems to point to the Petronas Towers, and the red contrasts better with the deep blue of the sky in my opinion!
Exposure's very nicely managed, and the shot was taken at my favourite time too; the blue hour just after sunset! Can't quite decide whether I'd run Shadow/Highlight and bump the Shadow up a little, you'd lose the night feel, but you'd gain a bit more separation on the near shrubbery.
One thing I'd definitely do in your shoes is a dark frame subtraction, even at TE size there seem to be some stuck pixels, for instance there are two red ones that I can see instantly here (top left for example). Unfortunately they move in the other shots, so it looks like you'd need to take a dark frame manually after each shot if you wanted to map the dead pixels out. In your shoes I might consider cloning them out of the uploaded shot at least.
It's still a favourite image of mine; and a view of Petronas that I haven't seen before :D

Hi Tan,
I like the setting you have crated on your camera for this photo. I think it will be better if the Eye Of Malaysia can be fully capture within the frame.

Hi Tan,
This has it all. City lights, motion blur reflections. And zoomed close enough. Excellent colors. No doubt this is my favorite of these three.

hi Tan
Interesting choice of pov, I assume you must have studied KL location before you arrived and found the right spot near the Ferry Wheel to shoot. I must say your exposure is done well at 3s to show the Towers while still maintaining the wheel's motion blur and keeping good sharpness.
Not sure about 2 red dots in the sky but Malaysian sky sometimes shows satellite blinking lights (vs stars).
My comments on this capture
.left Tower is blocked by a building in front
.nice if whole wheel in frame
.great blue hour sunset moment
.effect of lights on wheel is well done

Selamat Pagi Tan
The Petronas that did not exit when I passed through KL have become a classical, presenting them with the moving wheel in the foreground adds the creative touch that makes your photo special, and you know that I like such wheel movements in the night !
Have a nice day JY

Tan,
First I thought it was the Eyes of London. I like the 2nd workshop the best, though it was smaller but it give the overall view but with good detail and great impression of the city, but this one sure get the attention right away. One can't ignore it. I like the various motion of the wheel. Great detail on the light that illuminated the sky. Noise level is fairly low for such a shot. Really great quality. Composition is also good with all element in the right place for a well balanced space arrangement. Thanks Tan. Have a great evening and weekend if I have not visit again by then.

Hi Tan,
Though I like the red color and the main post, my preferrence definitely goes to WS#1. I love that blue hour sky and also the silhouette of that rocket-like tower which is not visible on the other two photos.
Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Tan,
effective mix of lights! From red to yellow in a well exposured image. The chosen 3 seconds create an nice visual effect on the wonderwheel. I missed the chance to visit that country in 1999. What a pity...great shot!

great, nice colours, reflection... i like the WS versions too but i guess you choose this one because this framing avoid the white part on the building on the right of the wheel, the exposure is excellent, great night shot !

Hi Tan,
I am impressed by the light, the colours and the movements of the big wheel, it is a perfect capture of this exciting place! The photos in the WS are as excellent as this one, personally I prefer the second shot.

hi Tan,
wow, simply beautiful. It's amazing how you found a way to incorporate something "fun" into a seemingly ordinary nocturnal city landscape.

Gorgeous image once again, you obviously can deliver those even without stunning landscapes, blue skies and crisp atmosphere. As much as I'd try, I have no adverse criticism whatsoever. The image is beautifully composed and technically flawless, it is a magazine cover. Never mind, I found the flaws and see that they have already been discussed and explained: the two red dots. Now I can go to bed satisfied.

Tan,
so your trip to Asia is materializing with a mandatory visit to Kualu Lumpur and the more then necessary shot of the iconic Petronas twin towers. The inclusion of the big wheel in red and with the interesting detail of stopped and movement is simply great.

Bonsoir,

Hi Tan,
Excellent sharp and colourful night shot. The composition is beautiful with the red big wheel on the right. But what an enormous speed the wheel must have had when you made the picture :-)

Hi, Tan. A very good night shot. The composition is well balanced with interest on both sides: the wheel on the right and the towers on the left. The colours on the wheel and on the towers stand well out against the sky.
Have a nice day,

Marvelous glitters of Kuala Lampur night sky. My father had an opportunity to go there. I should make a trip. Btw Tan, I finally completed visiting 49 states in the US land leaving only Hawaii in my list. then I should start going out of my the country. After seeing impressive pictures from you on Iceland, I'm shooting to go there. Don't know when I will make it. But I want to go there asap.

Hello Tan!
I love highrises! The Petronas Towers are, of course, included in my list of favorite sky-scrapers! In this nightshot, with pretty good technical qualities, what mostly attracts is the composition where you have show them surrounded by no less interesting elements! Excellent job, as usual!
TFS - Congratulations!
