Misty look of the steel bridge crossing the 'mighty' Kinabatangan river seen at dawn. This bridge is connecting the highway from K. Kinabalu / Sandakan to Lahad Datu / Tawau.
At exactly on this area is where the Miso Walai Homestay located. Miso Walai is a combination of few kampongs such as Kg. Batu Putih, Kg. Perpaduan and Kg. Mengaris. It would probably be the most or among the best homestay destination one can experience in Sabah.
The communities are from the ethnic of Sungei / Sungai (The people of the river side). The homestay program here offers not only the 'hands on experiences' on the unique traditional and cultural lifestyle of the communities but also an excursion to meet with the wildlife such as the proboscis, pygmy elephant, crocs and hornbills to name a few.
Kinabatangan is a flood plain area and rich of natural abundant - wild animals and forest produce. The area was once (and some part still)a heavily degraded forest due to 'overshameful' illegal logging activities. Part of the forest was also destroyed by the wild forest fire some time in 1998.
The communities together with their mastermind - An Australian married to the local, has been trying their best to reduce illegal logging activities by the local, by introducing homestay as a reliable side income to the people.
Besides, re-forestation activity is also positively taking in shape with a minimal financial support from the government.
Come to this place, promote this place. Your stay here will definitely be memorable and an important one. |

hi Nairelav
Interesting view of morning scene. Always misty at Kinabatangan, a big wide river. Looks like a nice place.

Hello DA. Dreamy shot at the bridge from low angle. You have anchored the van right on the sweet spot with the silhouette of the foliage. The bursting light and the reflection are just stunning elements in this composition. Well done and best regards. Jusni
