Sarawak's west is accessible by 1.5 hour drive from Kuching along 2 routes, one of which is Sampadi coastal route. Agriculture and fishing being the main activities here. Along the shortest route from Kuching, you will reach Bau town in 30 minutes, and long the way passing through many native Bidayuh villages. Next is Lundu where the Gading National Park is just 10 minutes from town, and this place is popular getaway on weekends. Further west by another 25 minutes drive, you will reach the end of road at Sematan Bazaar, a small village town. Beyond this, will be only beaches to walk 9 hours on foot towards the western tip of Sarawak called Tanjung Datu National Park, or you may hire a boat and reach there by 2 hours. Turtles return each year to lay eggs on the shores.

This is a typical scene of coconut palms along the western tip of Sarawak. During Monsson season, strong winds and high waves render it not advisable to be near the beaches. I hope you find it natural and unspoilt. Thank you for viewing. Regards, Bill

Olá Bill,
muito bonita essa foto das palmeiras assim na praia, realmente uma das regiões de praias mais bonitas do mundo essa. Belo trabalho seu.
Parabéns e Abraço!

Your trip to the west has proved really well worth it. Glad to see so many nice shots with good effects from the use of CPL. The coconut trees are well exposed sharp, showing a great deal of details.

I like your focus on the coconut trees while other landscape features are simply treat as a backdrop - the mountain, beach, blue sky, etc.

Hello Bill!
I like this one very much! Although it reminds me of some beaches here in Brazil, your eyes have given a special nuance and then, one can notice it's there, in Malaysia!
I love the shape of the coconut palms and the color of the sky, up where it contrasts with the green of the trees.
