[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Along the coastal strip of Sarawak stretching from Kuching all the way to western tip of Sematan, beaches coconut palms and mangroves are dominantly seen. A drive normally takes less than 2 hours, so weekends and public holidays will see many city folks taking a break and seeking getaway there.

Despite the sunny sky and calm condition, at times of rough sea and heavy Monsoon storms, the forces of nature may cause destructions like the uproot and displacement of these coconut palms from the land edge along Sarawak's coastal regions. This process has eroded a narrow strip of coastline over time. Perhaps something can be done to consider rehabilitate or protect the coastal regions by introducing innovation approaches to have corals and marine life flourish? In some parts of the world, this has been done successfully. Is it time to do so, now before it is too late?

Thank you for viewing. Regards, Bill

Hi Bill,
this is a very strong image with interesting note. I think you are right - the world is changing all the time and it is worth trying to see it before it changes too far. On the other hand, it is usually interesting to revisit some places over the years to see how exactly have they changed. The common problem of travellers - you will never manage to see everything you'd like to see, cos almost everything deserves to be seen.

Hello

You have done well to choose the living, dying and dead remains of the coconut as the main subject in this photo, against a background with predominantly perfect blue sky + scattered clouds. Interesting.

Alfred

Hello Bill!

Hello Bill,
what a splendid view of this coastal! I like the existence of the palm tree as the trunk and the black extractions that contrasted perfect with the sandy beach. The saturation of the sky is extraordinary.Informative your notes too.

Have a nice week,Danos

hello bill

a dreamscape for many in western office buildings... :)) but, despite the beauty of the scenery you have managed to show us the call for help well... the trees do seem to be screaming out in full voice. well done, friend.

with kind regards,
kristaps

Hello Bill. You have perfected this composition very well. The lower cumulus balances well with the wide span of cirrus against the saturated blue sky. Excellent depth and sharpness with clever inclusion of foreground subject. Very well done and best regards. Jusni

Hi Bill,
impressive and forceful image, it's fantastic. The nature has an excessive force that sometimes makes true damage, and your photography is a magnificent example.
The beheaded palm has not survived the Monsoon storm; -) Excellent colors, and the sky has impressive a chromatic force.

Best regards, salut, Jordi

Hi Bill
Very nice shot with a great sky.Good compositions and nice frame, well done.
TFS/Regards

Simply beautiful, the lone tree becomes the focal point of this photo and automatically draws my eyes into the photo.
Beutiful
Best regards
Charles

Hello Bill,
outstanding performance here with this incredibly deep blue sky and it white painted clouds dominating the scenario and giving a stunning depth. Compo works well with the 2 isolated palm tree giving a feeling of lonelyness. Great job!!
Thanks for sharing it.

Igor

Hi Bill,
This is composition at its best. Amazing clarity and the stunning blue colors...... makes a special feel. Your notes reminds me of the devastating super cyclone in Orissa in India which hit the coastal state on October 1999. Apart from a lot of human casualties, it took toll of a large chunk of coastal vegetation uprooting countless palm trees. I saw an even pitiful sight than this on my way to Chandrabhaga, a place by the sea, where several uprooted trees lied even after almost one year of the destruction.
Wonedrful composyition this....Loved it!!
Regards,
Sagarneel.

Hello Bill,
The clarity of the detail, and the strangeness of the headless palm and the palm standing with its roots above ground, gives this shot a surreal feel. Very beautiful, but unsettling too.
Best wishes....Maggie

bill

I visited a place like this in Marajó island, Brazil. The coconut palmtrees were suffering the same problem. I liked yous image cause light, pov and colors are fantastic. The drama of these trees, trying to survive, is full of meaning

hugs

jorge

Wonderful deep blue sky Bill!
Strange to see these broken palm trees on a quiet beach like this, hard to imagine the storms when looking at this picture.
Good note
Harry

Hello,
Very nice shot. Great colours and nice sky.

Bonjour Bill.

Cette photo est très belle mais aussi très forte pour lancer un message de protection des rivages contre les forces de la nature.
Les deux palmiers semblent prendre ce beau ciel à témoin pour alerter l'opinion sur la nécessité de la protection de la planète.
