[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
From a far distance, you see tall coconut palms when you approach Maiga Island by the sea route, with the palms scattered based on a thin line of white sandy beach if it is low tide. I had posted a question about the wind blowing off the stilted huts in the sea and the answer is here. From these tall palms, you will realise that the island is very much sheltered and strong wind is rare. Otherwise you will see a lot of fallen palms and these are not likely to grow so tall. Really one of the tallest palms I ever see. Growing up so tall, really.

Standing within the palms was just making me realise how different nature was out here. Everything so natural and unspoiled. In particular, on this island there is no generator and electricity, so I did not see any television. But on Mabul island, generators and televisions are common and in evenings you see Bajau children flocking around houses to share and watch cartoon shows on TV. The joy of growing up!

Thank you for viewing. Regards, Bill

Hi Bill
Somehow makes me remember my land, Pernambuco in Northeast Brazil !!!
Beautiful composition!
Um abraço, a hug,
from Recife,
Nivaldo

Never stay underneath of a coconut tree!!!
It makes a nice curtin style protection and the view thought it is quite interesting. Well done.
Antonio

Hi Bill,

A very good photo here, I like how these trunks interact by crossing one another as they reach skyward. It is good to see a neutral backdrop so there is no external interruption to take the prime view away from the trees. I would think that some more FG would look good here, but you might consider that to be a distraction also. When I was in Fiji I was told about certain protocol regarding the dangers of lingering under coconut trees. There are more deaths from coconut collisions than car accidents over there. Great colour and graphics.

Randomly grew palm tree bodies are creating a splendid view and you captured them excellently. Splendid simplicity and untouched, natural colors makes your frame a unique one. Great photo, excellent view. Congratulations.

Hi Bill,
Simple, looking almost casual, but very effective and nice compo. The trees form an eye catching pattern. It's much like a fabled image of a tropical island.

Hello Bill

your choice of a tight cropping allows for a very dynamic and graphic result. The rythmic pattern of vertical lines is great, not boring not too repetitive. An interesting and definitely eye catching photograph.

Congratulations

Emmanuel

bonsoir,
j'aime ce POV avec la cime des arbres plus ou moins coupée, laissant l'imagination interpreter le graphisme des troncs...tres bien fait

Hello Bill. I have always wanted to capture something like this with tall trees like rubber and coconut but never get around to doing it just yet. I might try this when the opportunity arises. Interesting perspective with pleasant capture and very well exposed. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Bill, j'aime beaucoup cet élégant graphisme fait par ces palmiers. C'est presque une peinture abstraite. L'oeil du photographe a bien fonctionné pour trouver cette perle rare.

Hallo Bill,

You show excellent the coconut palms in a special style, together through each other.
I like the little bit misty background this care for a nice composition.
Very well done, thanks for sharing.

Have a nice weekend,
John.

Hi Bill,
Beautiful picture nicely composed and presented with great colors and sharp picture, Excellent POV. of the palm well taken with lovely details, very well done.
Michel

Hi Bill,
All the vertical stalks of the palms so close together are a great subject, and I like that you have not included all of them at the top making for an interesting composition. Nice textures and natural colouring.
I also thought that it would make an interesting graphic black and white with all the stalks, so I attempted a workshop, hope you like it.
Regards
Wanda

Very nice graphism, Bill, those palm trees look so graceful and elegant... Great catch, perfect framing !
Congratulations,
Cath.

Hi Bill,
the image has a very important graphical component with the trunks of the palms raising itself towards the sky. Great atmosphere of claustrophobia with the set of the palms. Excellent definition of image and brilliant photography.

Best regards, Jordi

Hello Bill
These wonderful tall trees have provided you with a very graceful and elegant subject. You were right to only include a thin strip of ground and to show a wide view of the 'stripes' of blue sky which create a good rhythm across the picture. A very interesting note too.
Best wishes.....Maggie

hello Bill,
I've always enjoyed discovering patterns in nature, and your photo is a great example of what I try to look for. there's just the right amount of repetitiveness to create a captivating scene, but also just enough random variations to make it lively and interesting. I like your tight framing, although I'm not sure about the gray frame, but that's a matter of personal taste. very nice work.

with kind regards,
Kristine

Hi Bill,

Classic tropical scenery. Love all the palm or coconut tree in various sizes for a good camparision. Very good detail on the trunks. Very beautiful and rich color without being too saturated, very clean and neat image. Very relaxing, I can almost hear the breeze through the trees, I'm sitting in the hamock sipping coconut juice. Thanks Bill
