A campsite by the Kadamaian River at Kampong Tambatuon. It is the only village this side of the Mount Kinabalu where as if the landscape has two mountains.
The mountain in the centre foreground is Mount Nongkok or also known locally by the natives as "the Son Of Mt Kinabalu" and in the background, generally can only be seen in the morning without its peaks being smothered by the clouds, is Mt. Kinabalu.r
Kampong Tambatuon takes its name from Rambatuon, the native words for stars. Many decades ago, this village had the largest hillside population this side of the mountain and the populace then, described themselves as many as the stars in the night sky. Then, a cholera breakout almost decimated the total population.
From this village, it takes a day trek to Kampong Kiau passing through Kampong Kaung and Kampong Lobong Lobong on the other side of Mt. Nongkok you see in the foreground.

Another adventure morning shot against direction of direct sun, showing fine details of the campsite. A lovely grass turf for camping, which I had not done since 5 years back. For this trekk, I imagine you would not need radio contact?
I was a bit lucky early morning after Kundasang stay on the way back, to find sunshine for a while around Mt Kinabalu.

A spectacular refreshing morning view. A great moment as those beautiful mountains could be clearly seen, it must have been a very pleasurable morning. Beautiful...

Very beautiful view indeed, looks like somewhere in New Zealand! I suppose you slept in the tent just beside the stream. I can imagine you would hear the sound of flowing water all night. What a way to enjoy nature!

Assalamualaikum Rabani. I had a few regrets in life and one is not discovering the pleasure of camping earlier and not having enough opportunity to do it more now. Camping for most people means a tent and sleeping on a mat on the ground. That doesn't really appeal to some when you have a view of the chalet next to it. Camping wild is one of the best ways to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of hills, rivers and greens. When done responsibly, it has minimal impact on the environment. Enjoyed the diagonal lighting here with the thick forest creating pleasant looking tiers with the two peaks. River like this one is something I am missing here in Kedah. Wasallam. Jusni
