Chinese opera : the comic interlude Photo

Photographer’s Note

Part of my small Chinese operas in the streets theme (more photos to come)...

Before the real tragedy comes :
... Suddenly, appears on stage a sort of clown, and the whole atmosphere changes, the rhythm of the musıc ıs much faster and the tune cheerful and even comıc, thıs ıncongruous character (whıch has nothıng to do wıth the drama whıch wıll resume ın an ınstant), ıs jumpıng and doıng all sorts of acrobatıc fıgures, hıs face shows plenty of funny expressıons, - a pleasure for the eyes wıth hıs shıny colourful satın costume, but not easy to take a sharp photo as he ıs movıng so fast from one corner of the stage to the other, - never stıll for an ınstant,
... and then he ıs already gone !
(and sometımes, retrospectıvely I regret to have been all the tıme behınd a camera : so busy to try to get a decent photo, I had no tıme to admıre hıs skılls and thıs exotıc and entertaınıng scene, too short for my taste...)

... I'll be less often on TE the next days as I'll be very busy, but nonetheless, whenever I can (and as a way to escape the crowd at my place), I'll vısıt thıs great sıte and look wıth ınterest at your posts !

les couleurs sont magnifiques... rien que pour ça, la photo mérite le joli smiley tout vert.
Et puis, tu nous montres une partie de cette culture fort intéressante et riche.

En lisant vite le titre, j'ai vu "cosmic interlude". Après coup, je me dis que cela fonctionnerait pas mal non plus !!
Il est une face assez fascinante. Très belle réalisation alors que j'imagine que ce ne devait pas être si facile à cause de la lumière.

I hope you can rest latter of many work and take a break, Ricardo Lopes is doing the same, TE is an addiction for me and for many people and sometimes we need a break.

About your pic the note is wonderful too, I like the face of this person, his position, the dress and make up too.

il a de beaux vêtements en harmonie avec le décor

I know exactly what you mean about missing the action while being behind the camera. We will never solve it as we would then regret not having the photos. You have captured this fast-moving fellow well and in an interesting pose. Well done

Hi Catherine, what a nice color harmony in this portrait well placed in his nice environment, it could use a slight local sharpening on the man to make him stand out, excellent one.

You’re right...when we are addicted with our camera, we miss the real action of theatre & dances. A great capture, this with lovely colours & the subtle comical expression on his face. As I said earlier I'm loving this series of yours & I hope you would sneak in some time to post some more shots.

Quite a contrast, indeed. I many times think the same about spending so much time behind the camera. My wife says that I don't see half of it and I wonder if she's right...
Fantastic series of this festival, Cath. A colorful and funny pose, including the busy background. You should be satisfied with the result - I wish that my photos from 1991 had such a good quality. Really!
