Shangri La Resort Penang
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A shot of the sprawling lush gardens that make up Penang's 6 star beachfront resort - the Shangri La Resort Hotel in Batu Feringghi town.
I was captivated by the detail of the tree branches being lit up by powerful halogen spotlights hence this picture :)
Improvement tips on composition most welcome! |

I like the details of the tree branches too!
If I were there, I'd also use the longest end of the focal length to capture just the halogen-lit branches, isolating the other objects to create a nice abstract shot -- perhaps laying the camera on the ground, pointing upwards! (Or you have them already??)
Anyway... ahhh Penang... I'd love to visit it again soon. And for a longer stay, I hope.
i like this kinda nightscape.. good luck

This is great Jason. Just don't like the burnout/overexposed spot on the tree at left. As you were captivated by the lit branches of the trees, you ought to concentrate on that without getting it disrupted by other none complimenting or distracting element. This composition would have been perfect if not for the burnout at left.
In photography, it is called "working your subject". What it means, you move around looking for that location/angle the captivating subject is at its best with the least amount of distraction. Something like perfection for the subject, at that moment and place. Perfect means, there's nothing distracting/discomforting left to remove or fix.
So work your subject Jason. You will find that perfect spot. You just need to look for it.

Jason,
This is a good try of night photography. The golden colors of the trees from the halogen lights are great. Good pov but you should have probably avoided the bright light on the left. It attracts the eye and then distracts from the rest of the nice picture.
