Meet Anuar, the 'man of the jungle'- literally translated from 'orang utan' in Malay. He is a 5 year-old 'gentleman' from Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, at the outskirt of Kuching city. This is a rehabilitation forest reserve for the 'Orang utan'.

During this visit to this centre, we were lucky enough to meet this shy primate during the feeding time. Most of the other 'orang utans' are rehabilitated well enough not to return for feeding - usually at 11 am and 3 pm everyday. This shy 'man of the jungle' would slowly and cautiously descend to a platform full of tropical fruits and grab them using one of his hands and feet. He took the food high up on the tree to eat.. he used his other hand and feet to hang on to the tree branches while he do so.. it's just amazing to see him doing his 'stunts'.

Shot with 80-200mm lense without tripod, so imagine the shaking and aching arm after many shots (only a few are keepers!) Minimal sharpening with PS.

Wonderful!! Simply wonderful, Fanny. The beautiful and perfect exposure of the "man of the jungle", his great expression, the excellent bokeh. This is magnificent! Kind regards,
Shelly

Hi Fanny,
This is lovely! Great shot and placement of the subject (who is very cute!). My only critique is that I am a little distracted by the blurriness of the tree as it takes up such a large portion of the image. Otherwise, this is great. What a wonderful opportunity!!!
Sarah

Hi Fanny
Man, I like the expressive look of this Man of the Forest. Natural colour balance with sharp details of the subject. Good use of DOF technique. Personally, I feel the tree trunk appears to create a distracting border.

Did you attempt to shoot a portrait of this primate?

Cheers / Steven

Probably, this is as good as it gets with 200mm. I wouldn't be critical as others might be, before me about your work here Fanny. For in wildlife and street, you usually don't have much choice, chances or time to be "perfect". You get what's coming to you and make the best. But you will learn as you click along. Here, you got Annuar's eyes sharp enough and that's where most people look at first thing when they see an animal. Study your subject and the environment it's in and you will get better in time.

Rabani

Bonjour Fanny
A selective focus eases concentration on "man" who looks quite sympathic!
What a funny posture to eat bananas!
Soft lighting makes a fine portrait.
Au revoir.

Hi Fanny,
I am a big animal's photos lover, and this is a wonderful shot!! I couldn't help but adjust it a little on WS. Hope you don't mind.
Very good POV, lovely fella!!
Regards,
Irina

Hello Fanny,
You have an excellent wildlife photo here. Very sharp and with a great expression from the primate. I don't agree with the comment about tree trunk being a distraction. I think that the tree trunk frames him nicely. Orangutangs do climb trees after all. Very impressive work!
