Photographer’s Note
Haze is coming to Malaysia again. Today in the 8th day of haze appearing in most part of Klang Valley. Yesterday and today is the quite bad with visibility of about 400 meters. You can read more of the situation in today's news in The Star
I was in Kuala Lumpur this morning at about 8AM. Took this photo at 8:19AM from Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. There was no sun and hazy all around. I found this Malaysia flag hanging by the road side. There are flags flying everywhere as Malaysia will celebrate her 48th independence day on 31st August.
About this photo, I focus on the flag and fired the flash to lighten the flag. Adjusted saturation and sharpen the image.
I hope this will let our TE members aware of the hazy situation happening here.
Your comments and critiques are most welcome.

Your picture really shows the haze problem in KL at the moment. Im heading there myself on Friday on my way to the Cameron Highlands, hopefully it will clear up by then as i want some pictures of the twin towers.
The colours of the flag contrast well against the haze in the background.
Keep up the good work!

Hello Chai,
Really great composition with the colorful as a contrast to the building in the haze. A very good illustration to your current problems. A superb capture.

Hi Chai
The composition is great here with the flag and the shadow of the towers.
It will be more great if the towers could be more dark.
Nice work

Hi Chai,
A nice and meaningful shot. The message is clear through the faint and hazy towers. The flag is a good add and provided nice contrast.
Well done!! Regards.

Hi Chai, I was wondering myself today how to create a composition utilising the haze. You have done very well here to place the flag in the foreground and light it with flag - it adds colour and sharpness to what would otherwise have been a fuzzy grey picture. I have just posted one taken through the haze as well, but that was one I took in February when the haze was not as bad as today. Cheers . . . David

I will be in transit by Kuala Lumpur international airport next month to go to Indonesia...(and for the return, I will be there during more than 6 hours and want to take the express train to see the center) Hope this haze I heard also here at the news will be gone!
About the picture, it's very well composed and it's also interesting to learn the date of your national day.

Hi Chai
Good composition, put the Malausian flag aginst the problem it is facing. THE HAZE.
Well ,THE HAZE have been part of our life since it struck years ago.
Over in Penang, with such stron blowing, bringing the haze here as well. It got worst today, compared to yesterday, and worst still, today's wind are blowing non-stop.
Why is there no caution or action been taken to prevent such happening?
People have been informed that open burning have been prohibited and when caught, compound are issued.
So, what about thsi ONE !!!!
Well. it's a simple but good shot.

What a haze in contrast to this sharp flag, well brought together in one shot.

Hi Chai,
What a atmosphere with the fog around the towers, well seen! But the flag is a real eyes catcher.
Greetings,
John.

Hej Chai,
This is a great capture with a good and strong composition. The silhouettes of the scyscrapers are great and I like the inclusion of the flag in order to get some colours as well. Good work.

It's too bad about the haze, but a good shot for you. The flag in the foreground really emphasises the haze in the backgorund.

...come again another day. We don't want it to, but we know it will.
A very recognisable Malaysian picture with both the flag and the Petronas Towers (just!) Well composed as well with the towers leaning in from one side and the flag from the other.

Nice photo. You have created a very effective shot putting the towers left and central, but almost invisible. While there is sharp focus on the Malaysian flag. Excellent idea, and great shot.
