Mosque over water, a photo from Melaka, West

Photographer's Note

Continuing our trip down the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, here is a different point of view of the nice city of Melaka. I took this photograph while anchored for the night and chose this place, because I wanted to get shots of the Mosque, as the sun was going to set.

A sailboat is not the best platform for night photography and this one was taken just before it became too dark, since we can't use a tripod.

Soon after this picture, a fisherman was quite unhappy of my location, when our boat was caught in his fishing net.
Tidal currents are quite strong here and they use long nets, sometimes over one kilometer, drifting along the coast.

The poor man had quite a struggle to untangle his net from our anchor chain and he asked me why I had decided to anchor right there... I felt a bit ashamed to tell him that it was to photograph the Mosque...

So I dedicate this picture to the fisherman, hoping to be forgiven.

This was the first time that I saw this mosque shot from sea. Nice colour vibrance there. Sharp and clean shot. And sorry for your incident with the fisherman.

Hello Michel,
A very beautiful view on the stunning architecture in Melaka. I visited Melaka in 1993 and don't believe that any of these buildings existed then. Melaka certainly has changed.

magnifique photo de cette mosquée "flottante". Les conditions de lumières sont excellentes et nous donnent une image aux couleurs chaudes. La netteté est parfaite et le point de vue est remarquablement choisi.
On trouve souvent des mosquées construites sur l'eau en Malaisie et je trouve ça très joli.
Je croyais avoir visité Malacca dans toutes ses largeurs mais je n'avais pas vu cette mosquée. Félicitations.

It's a beautiful shot of modern architecture. For me it is a first time when I see newly desingned mosque and minaret. Very good colors, excellent light and perfect sharpness.
