This is the ceiling of the Thean Hou Temple situated in the hills of Kuala Lumpur. Some time ago I posted a photo of this ceiling in more close up.
The temple was built between 1981 and 1987 and was opened in 1989. It is dedicated to the the Heavenly Mother Goddess Tian Hou. However statues of two other goddesses also reside here, namely Guan Yin(Goddess of Mercy) and Shui Wei Sheng Niang (Goddess of the Waterfront). The temple incorporates elements of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. As I mentioned previously, you can't help but feel peace and well-being in this place.

Ciao cara Lisa,
As soon as I saw your title (and before I looked at your picture) I was suspecting that I might be requiring one of these but I now see that this picture is a lot more tasteful than some of the others uploaded on this site this morning!
I see that you have resisted the temptation to post this picture at the much larger sizes now allowed here: many of my friends here have commented that larger images can be a bit of a pain to view and I must say that I'm starting to agree.
This is a lovely symmetrical composition with some amazing colours and you have managed to capture this view remarkably well considering the low light and requisite high ISO. The details and sharpness are excellent and you have again provided an interesting and informative note.

Spectacular! Absolutely wonderful and original design. Good framing, must have been a challenge how to crop this one.

I know I've said it before, but I so much love the names you choose for your posts, A Day with the Three Goddesses..brilliant. It sounds like a movie about complete spiritual awareness.
What a beautiful place this is, the array of colors are a sight to behold, and the amount of colors in this are truly spectacular. A kaleidoscope of inner peace and tranquility.
Fascinating note too, its so cool that the temple is so young. Normally when we see impressive temples they are hundreds or possibly thousands of years old, so how brilliant to know our modern world still builds and creates these wonders too. No doubt in 500 years time, people will see this then ancient place and be as amazed as we are today.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Very colorfull ceiling. A lot of nice details in this architecture. Very symetrical. A very good gestion of the light and a very solid hand.
Have a nice day

Some very amazing work that go into the ceiling. Wow, I have not seen any Chinese temple with such ceigling. and most of the time it was so dark inside you can barely see anything. Here the design include lot of small window to allow natural light in. The whole think reminded me of the Tibeting sand painting. Incredible detials you got here I can look at it and see something new. Okay, my neck hurt from looking up for so long :)

Seeing this shot inspired me to post a SE Asian pic today Lisa, I love this part of the world with its colourful temples and equally colourful people. I am always blown away by the vivid decorations highlighting Asian symbols within places like this, and the ceiling pictured here has plenty to fascinate. I think you have presented a neat and colourful composition with very good light management too considering the challenges. I feel a need to visit SE Asia again..... it's been a long time since I did! Have a great weekend Rosemary

questo "soffitto" è finemente lavorato e la tua foto c'è ne mostra tutti i dettagli, non credo sia stato facile fotografarlo con questa qualità, ma la tua bravura supera ogni difficoltà.

Excellent vertical view of the Thean Hou Temple ceiling, a multiple geometric intricate design and color display with a wild variety of art work.
Focusing on the details does relax the mind and tranquilizes the spirit.
Hope your weekend is rewarding and enjoyable,

Howdy there my fellow cretin, :)
Ooooh, me likey! This is kind of mesmerizing, it's like of combination of kaleidoscopes...so much intricate design, detail and colorful beauty all around. Not only that, but there are some solid shapes contained within, making this a real treat for my eyeballs!
Even as frenetic as this appears at first, I can only imagine that it's just as you described in the note...a feeling of peace and well-being there. How in the world did you even get everything to line up so well from this perspective? With the many slightly skewed lines, I would have gone mad trying to compose this shot. You've done a terrific job in making it look and feel harmonious on every account.
Bright, detailed and exquisite. Bravo!
Cheers from the States,

very impressive ceiling. There is so much color here and the design seems quite extraordinary as well. Great angle resulted in an interesting geometry.
It seems like a very exotic place indeed and your photo encourages both to visit Kuala Lumpur but also to more often look up in a search of interesting sights.

Beautiful ceiling from this multi religion temple. Nice small dome. The dragons are like in Chinese temples. Guan Yin is a very popular Goddess in Chinese population. In Japanese, Guanyin is pronounced Kannon - yes, the name of camera is after this Goddess :). Excellent presentation.
Warm regrads Malgo
