[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I stumbled across this monument in Putrajaya while looking for a higher point to capture Putrajaya landscape. I was unaware of this monument as there are so many public gardens I haven't visited yet.

At closer look at the plaque here, it was named "Mercu Tanda" in our national language. The meaning of "Mercu" = peak; summit; climax and "Tanda" = sign; mark; symbol. I am sure from these 2 words you can get the meaning of it.

I took this photo at about noon. As you can see fro the background, the weather wasn't that good. Rain would come at any minute. As you can see, it was quiet during weekday. In fact, I am the only visitor during my 45 minues stay besides seeing 2 workers doing their rounds here.
If you look closer, you can spot Sri Wawasan bridge in the background. If you turn around, you will see a hotel situated here. I will post that view in the coming photo.

Hope you enjoy this view as I would say not many people have seen this.

Thanks for viewing.

Hey Chai
Glad to see your post again.
And again, a shot from the same old place.
And again, all those funny bridges, aiyah, that's the last post, sorry, okay okay, all those funny structures being decorated here, especially that BIG ONE.
Those lamp post also look funny.
Hey, I don't understand what this contractors are doing. Maybe they followed what hey supposed to do, huh!
Rather than putting something nice and simple and unique, our govt "designer" have putting tooooooooooo hard of creating something unique and RARE. But it turned out to be a ...... no comment.
Likewise in Penang, we have several "COOL" design, designed by the govt "designer".
The first one, you have seen that before, there's one post in TE recently, at the clock tower, a Stainless Steel Pinang , soaking wet by the fountain. And the other, is at the roundabout where, if your are entering Penang island and heading towards town, you shold notice it. It have this tall cylinder design with the Bunga Raya filling he top, and is decorated sem circle the roundabout, to greet incoming Penang visitors.
You know what, the laughing stock is, a Peni*. Everybody was commenting the similarity of the design, that's also includes the media, making coverage of the NEW CONCEPT taken by PENANG govt to improve the image of PENANG.
I think the govt should stop all the "designer" concept and try to put something traditional to it.
Likewise, one of my ex-boss told me, do what people don't want to do, and don't do what people are now doing.
To me, this philosophy (sorry it wrong spelling) is very correct to me. Since I have put it in practise several times in my business.
Stop now, ah!!

This monument looks very interesting and is placed well in this shot. All the lamp posts are a great addition too, they create a very nice vertical effect. Well done!

Chai
interesting picture, the many lights add a nice touch, if i squinted my eyes and looked at the thumbnail this kind of looked like the statue of liberty to me, with the hand and torch being that portruding pole and the rest of the structure being the body!
