Photographer’s Note

At Penang’s clan jetty you can see a bit of the daily life of the fishermen literally in the middle of Georgetown. Fisheries are a very important component of the overall agriculture sector. In 2007 fisheries produced 1.56 million tonnes valued at RM6.32 billion, but still a significant portion of the fishes and seafood in the local wet market is imported from neighboring countries, in particular from Thailand. The Malaysian government is promoting the enhancement of the aquaculture production and a sustainable development of the deep-sea fishing.

Hi Urs: Useful notes pertaining to the fisheries product complemented well with well taken image. Those lines of cages make excellent perspective with the Malaysian flag attracted the attention. Nice way to end the frame with a jetty and thanks for sharing. Best regards. Jusni

Quite interesting fishing boat nets with cylindrical shape, which create a fine lead-in and the opposing diagonal of the pier in the distance. The Malaysian flag in the middle adds colour to the nice daily life scene
