Photographer’s Note

Every year, the Nine Emperor Gods Festival is held for nine days of the Chinese 9th lunar month – usually in October. This is when the spirit of the Gods, which are believed to dwell in the stars descend to earth and possess the spirit mediums, putting them on a trance. Legends have it that the Gods are the sons of Dao Mo.

It's the time of the year when the devotees of the Emperors eat only vegetarian food. In Thailand the festival is called vegetarian festival while in Malaysia and Singapore it is the Nine Emperor festival.

It is a fantastic expression and concentration of the lady in the picture. I really enjoyed the clear and sharp view. The only thing I would have done different was to crop the right hand side to avoid the door, the arm and the smoking man in the background.

We light candle almoust always for many difrent things(birth,deat,fate,healt ect,ect...)

Olá Urs, nice shot of the lady occupied with her faith, feeding her soul. Although I like the whole context of this image I'm thinking in a heavy crop as an alternative, just showing her face and arm with the candles. But that would be a diferent photo...

Kod nas je obicaj da se u crkvi upali sveca za pokojne i dobro zdravlje zivih. Odlican trenutak sa dobrim bojama. Dobar rad.

firstly I would like to thank for this informative note. It is a new knowledge for me. Then I would like to thank for posting this shot. It is a nice one. Good colours. The face is a bit OUF I think but it is composed nicely. Colours are great. Superb atmosphere. Your light management is very good. Good interior decoration. Nice capture.
