Penang sunset Photo

Photographer’s Note

Sunset possibly is not the right expression it was almost 6 p.m. and the sunset still is a bit away, but I could not resist to take this picture against the sun of the view from the famous clan pier towards the newer part of Georgetown. It was so sunny that late afternoon and only 2 hours before it was pouring down heavily. That is the typical monsoon weather, not predictable.

Olá Urs, seems a bit dark but the dramatic mood is interesting. The silhouettes can be a bit confusing too...I like that isolated house in the middle surrounded by the modern blocks of apartments. The sky is nice and the light produced wonderful textures on the water. I might crop something in foreground but I'm not sure.

another great shot. A bit dark the buildings but I think you have intension to show us the silvery glittering of water. Nice in that aspect, I think. Nice sky also. Sharpness and depth is fine as always. Great composition. Tfs.

Hello Urs,

very nice and very impressive sunset with a difficult but very good managment of light. The black silhoueth of the elements give a strange athmospher to the image. These balck elements give too a very nice graphic effect.

Hello Urs,

I like the silhouetted elements in the strong backlight!
We get a hint of the city in the back, and the clouds are nicely lined by the sunrays...
Admirable is also the shimmering water, the mood is well conveyed!

Good backlight shot, with silhouettes and the diagonal of the glittering reflection of the sun. The clouds are good, looks almost 3D...very dramatic! Interesting contrast between the old wooden pier and the modern buildings on the left
