Old Red Boat Photo

Photographer’s Note

My friend and I travelled to Penang. By the beach at Gurney Drive there were a few boats anchored there.
This one seemed to be parked for sometimes and it is on the beach.
The colurs captured my attention. To give a more dramatic view I used a wide angle.

Selam Foozi. The wide angle works well here as it allows for the wide sea vista and creates a special effect with the diagonal of the rope and the position of the old boat.Great colours and light.Regards. Klaudio.

That's in my backyard!!! And you did not say that you were coming!!! Just kidding, we normally go every Saturday to Penang, to photo hunt and do shopping what is not available in Alor Star. When I saw the photograph I felt, I know this clouds, now I know why, that's Penang. Your shot is absolutely perfect, the sun illuminates the FG - it almost looks like flash. The colors and contrasts are vibrant and the sharpness is very high. Well Done

Good choice using the wide angle, it has given your shot a very dynamic look.

beautiful shot, I love this composition, using the rope to lead us in to this old red boat which is your main subject and anchor point, yet the rest of scenery is equali impressive with beautiful color and light, good sharpness and clarity, beautifully saturated colors. great job on this one.

this vivid contrast between the red and the blue is impressive,
and this depth of perspective made by the boat and the rope is very unique.
of course distant boats and the composition of horizon are effective.
the light is rich and makes all bright tone of colors, especially the blue air makes wonderful tone of the sky and the sea.

Hi Foozi,

The red boat takes my eyes toward the horizon which is giving depth to the composition. The presence of the boats anchored has an effect of scale. The afternoon light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Foozi.
This is a marvellous shot. I think you composed this beautifully, with the rope making a great lead-in for the eye. The red and blue paint really make great colours, which are picked up by the other boats behind. Great placement of the horizon, with the prow of the boat poking into the sky. Everyone has to their 'boat shot', and yours is as good as any other seen on TE! Great work with your ultra wide angle zoom - I'm probably going to buy the same zoom lens soon.

Hello Foozi,

Seems like this boat has a fine design, with a wide body for good stability in a work situation (fishing)..!
It is a well balanced composition with rich colours, and I notice the number of boats behind that seem to be the same type...
The diagonal rope is a great compositional element!

The way the foreground and the background relate is tremendous .. the combination of vibrant colors and the age of the boat is striking as well .. thoughtful and well done image. take care, John
