Photographer’s Note

Penang is known as a food heaven. There are so many hawkers preparing food almost around the clock, it is very difficult to pinpoint the brightest stars of the food scene. Among the highlight certainly is the Chawrastra wet market at Cecil Road not far from the landmark Komtar. It’s a covered market, so even it pours cats and dogs, you can shop for vegetables, fruits, pork, poultry, fish and seafood and while waiting till the rain stops, grab a chair and a space at a table, and order something to eat and drink, like this Koay Teow mixed meat soup, prepared by the chef himself. The popular Koay Teow are flat white rice noodles.
