I came across this road today and spotted this half-alive tree as we were entering the sugar-cane plantation in Perlis (the north most state in Malaysia). The soil in this area is reddish in color as you can see at the roadside. Some parts are being replanted by rubber-trees but as you entered the plantation, there will be miles of sugar-cane – minus the trees. I guess the tree was there greeting with the message “I’m the last one standing”.

Great colours and composition

Congrats!

alfred

Jusni, if you claimed that this was taken in Nevada somewhere, I would have believed it. I honestly haven't been to Perlis (or Langkawi for that matter). Therefore apart from the geography lessons in school ages ago, I have never seen how a huge sugarcane plantation looks like.

Thanks for sharing.

Last one standing indeed, interesting place and very good name!

Hi Jusni, a clever idea to choose this POV to show the great effect it comes from the long road. It is also ideal framed with very nice light too.
Evan

dear jusni,
nice composition with bright colours and sharp details
well done
cheers

Hi Jusni

One of your best shots. You picked the red earth as striking contrast and it is at the foreground to feature strongly.

The tree shape and form is lovely. Add on to this, you have good light and no harsh shadows.

Next is the solid clean black color of bitumen road, with very clean white marking lines (newly paved road surface?). It adds strong contrast again.

The spotted green turf grass on the road shoulder, that is great texture amidst the red earth.

Finally, you have a great sky blue gradient, the lack of cloud is not making it less striking here. Add all of this, you have a winner!

I am most grateful to be on your favourites list, because I can learn a thing or two from you. You catch up fast.

TFS, cheers
bill

Jusni good evening
Great low capture that intensifies the feeling of being there. The view unrolling in front of us is great, the colors vivid and the endless blue sky with the great perspective given by the road describes exactly the feeling of the place

hello Jusni!
Beautiful photo!
Very nice colors!
Good composition! Good note!
TFS, regards, Zorica

Hi Jusni,

very beautiful scene. That road leads our eyes to horizon. The "half-alive" tree breaks gracefully the emptiness of the sky. Pleasant image. It's a good idea to show us your country in here. Thanks for sharing!
Regards,
Carlos

Where do you get that blue?
the street is well placed and the colour addition is magic!!

Regards
Stelios

This composition is very good with the tree very well placed opposite to the snaking road on the right. The red colour of the ground is an excellent contrast to the blue sky. The only little minus are the dust dots in the sky. Well done.

Hi Jusni,
A curious tree indeed, that complements the fabulous view that allowed you a fantastic compo. The sense of expanse is really something, with the road extending to the infinite. Great sky, colours and sharpness.
Regards, José.

Bravo !

Hello Jusni,
I spotted this one on first sight looking at your 1st page of gallery...
Very beautiful picture, I like it very much. Lovely sight, good presentation in tight vertical framing, gives this lonely tree a poignant dimension. The colours are great and I love that road and its curves. I see a touch of grain in the upper sky but it's a tiny detail.
Well done, good note too, prefer not to enter this subject, makes me emotional:-)

TFS
Regards
Michèle

Jusni, congratulations for this beautiful shot, the vertical format compo is very effective and clever with the tree on the side, pretty colors too, regards, Daniel

I like the message of your picture. It's a shame that one of the oldest jungles in the world, it's been desapearing year through year. Thanks for share.
