[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This huge beast of an equipment was shown to me by brothers fiancees father, he showed us this gigantic ship. This was supposed to be a tourist sight, but the project was dropped because of lack of funds. The only tourists were the ox near by swimming in the water.

What you can see here in this picture was a very useful ship, the earlier model was introduced to Malaysia by the British and soon after they devised their own making it more efficient.

Here is what it used to do, it use to dig deep down the sandy bottom with buckets and then hail it in the inside and then the seperation of metals and sand began, it used to be very loud and unbearable too.

There are only a limited number of these fine ships left today.

It used to provide the world with 60% of tin to make can tops, beat that.

I hope you like it

Hey Dan;

Interesting stuff.... I've never seen such a piece of equipment- I have to say, it barely looks sea worthy with what looks like tin siding etc.

Cheers,
- Dan

Hi Dan,

Interesting photo. I barely looks like a ship...was it supposed to just float around in the river or go out to the seas? Thanks for sharing.

regards, Raza

Hi Dan! It doesn't look like a ship to me. Anyway, your notes gives us a clear idea on this huge machine! I think your shooting angle captured the subject and the surroundings very well! Good sharpness and colors. I just wish the weather gave you a better lighting. rgds!

Interesting note dan and a well made presentation of the old equipement machinery. It looks very 'misplaced' out there but as said very interesting to go with your note.

Hi Dan

A good daily life / historical shot, of the tin dredge. I like the reflections in the water, & the superb sharpness & pov. Well done!

An interesting and imposing piece of machinery, Dan. Good use of wide-angle to fit the beast into the frame in its entirety, and interesting to see this thing in the somewhat out-of-context surroundings. Good storytelling in your note, as usual.

Hi Dan. What a scary looking machine that is! I'm glad you explained just what we were looking at as I was scratching my head trying to figure out what it did. The reflections are a useful addition. Well done Dan.

Bonjour Dan,
Curieux équipement d'extraction, pris sous un bel angle qui accentue le côté monstrueux.
Bonne définition.
Amitiés
Martine

Hi Dan, It takes some brain twist to understand that why you were there :D.
It does look like a big monster in this picture. I think it is a waste to dump the giant there doing nothing. An educational notes to show a failure business example. A nice clear picture to the not-so-pleasant scene.

Hi Dan,
To me this looks much more like a huge dredger or container crane or something like that. Anyway something industrial and not something for tourist. Thank you for showing us.

Hi Dan!
Good educational info attached to the photo. The cloudy sky makes a good atmosphere to this photo. Well, honestly it took me some time to figure out the boat lines though...needed to run my imagination well, haha.

A nice capture of daily life. Very sharpness and good pov. Great work.

Hello Dan, it really looks huge. The perspective you used it makes it even more impressive. It's not the classical ship shape. The exposure is perfect. Well done, Gabriel.

Hi Dan,
A really interesting note as also the boat with so strange equipment. Nice to present us with such capture composition.
Good enquadrement view and perspective. Well seen and my congratulations.

Best Regards.

Hi Dan,
What a fascinating structure you present here! There is great incongruity between the large inert beast and the lush surroundings. I can just hear the clanking from the din of the machine working in the old days. An interesting shot and good contribution to TE, Dan. A superb POV and good clarity throughout.

A strange and huge mecanic monster ! Impressive through that perspective.

Hi Dan,
It´s an impressive machine indeed, never seen such a monster before.Surprising contrast to the landscape.A posting with a high TE value.
Greetings,
Hermann

This is realy an interesting conception of ship, and a giant one. I never seen such a big one and a spectacular one in a category of boats we also use in the River Loire Estuary.
Thanks for this interesting subject.
Jean Michel

Hard to believe this is a ship, Dan, but I found your explanatory note very interesting. The grey strcuture against the grey sky doesn't make for a great image technically, but nevertheless it is a good TE post. Cheers . . . David

A very interesting and strange design for a ship, I have to admit, Dan!
But it's good that you show us this as well, not only the beauty of Perak, but some ugly sides as well!
Well done,
Robi

Hi Dan, nice capture of this "ship". I used to see them around my hometown in Perak when I was a kid. Sad to say I didn't have a photo of this once useful equipment muself. 8-(
