Hello friends in TE.

Masjid Ubudiah - ranking high on the list of Malaysia's most beautiful mosques, the Masjid Ubudiah (or Ubudiah Mosque) stands proudly and majestically in Kuala Kangsar, with its golden dome and minarets creating a spellbinding sight, from near and afar.

The mosque was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, a government architect who is notably credited for the design of the Ipoh railway station and the Kuala Lumpur railway station.

Built in 1917 during the reign of the 28th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Idris Murshidul'adzam Shah, the Masjid Ubudiah is located beside the Royal Mausoleum on Bukit Chandan. It was commissioned on the orders of the Sultan, who vowed that he would build a mosque of great beauty as thanksgiving for recovery from an illness which plagued him in those early days.

Hello Jusni,
When I visited Malaysia in 1993 I spent only 2 or 3 hours in Kuala Kangsar. But I did visit this wonderful Masjid Ubudiah.
I think it looks magnificent with the golden domes and very special with those black lines on the white minarets.
I haven't seen another mosque with this colour pattern.

Salam Jusni. I remember this mosque as one in a series of Malaysian stamps decades ago. When I saw it then I hoped that one day I would see it. So far I have only seen the newish Shah Alam mosque. For a westerner, Mr Hubback has done a fine job incorporating architectural styles from a number of Islamic civilizations. Your tight cropping accentuates the symmetry of the mosque. Lovely colours. The tight frame is putting the mosque in evidence. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the mosque. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.
