Photographer’s Note
Ipoh is populated with down-to-earth eateries like this one, Kedai Kopi Kwong Chow at First Garden. Despite proletariat appearances and functional furnishings, they serve the best foods in town, like the searing hot fish head porridge which has obviously captivated this lone old man's attention. So much so, he does not notice the photographer furtively taking a wide-angle shot of him just one table away.

Hi Alexandra
Do not understand estimate an old man's wit, he could be watching you. I once went to shoot sunset and was just standing outside the fence along the road, but the houseowner, an old man wearing sport shoes and releasing his 2 dogs, came to ask why we shoot his house. We were shooting sunset, not his typical old house.
Anyway, your wide angle is put to good use, the photo has sharp details and good color. Good candid shot.

I hate to blow your bubble but candid or not, the table top did not do justice taking up half of the composition my dear. It would have been more of an impact and dare devilish nature on your part, getting closer and chatting him up first and then shoot him going through his hot fish head porridge.
They say if you are afraid of shooting your subject up close and personal, it is because you have not get that much closer to him. Usually getting to know your subject, will get you that much on your visual.
By the way, welcome to TE, Alexandra. This is one place where photography is a documentary art. There's no bad or good one just how much or less visual value, your photo has. For every post you will learn from the previous one's comments & critiques.
