Photographer’s Note

A construction worker at Ipoh station, completing the nearly finished modernisation of the station and associated rail infrastructure. This is in preparation for the new intercity high speed electric service due to commence operation between this city and Kuala Lumpur at the end of next year.

All the workers seemed to be consentrating their attention of activities that could be carried out in the shade.

Hey Richard,

I like this shot for its nice documentary feel. Is that bulding in the back with the scaffolding the station? This shot certainly puts him into context and with really nice framing.

Good attempt to capture a daily working life. But I think a more closer shot would have better impact on the theme of the image. Sharpness of the photo is excellent.

Hi Richard, I like the sharpness and clarity of this photo. If the rail service you are referring to is Ipoh-Rawang double tracking project, it won't start end of this year but end of next year.

Interesting environmental scene, Richard. The multiple construction activities are well portrayed, the worker pushing the barrow is an essential inclusion, and the natural setting around is nice.

An interesting daily life shot, Richard. I like the scaffoled building in the BG. The arrngement of the frame is very effective. I wish you could remove the car.

A nice contrasting shot, Richard, between the 'urban' construction scene in the foreground and the 'rural' landscape in the background.

Hi Richard, fascinating rail road and man at work picture. The combination of all these artefacts with vastly different heritages makes this one really work and the foggy BG adss a nice depth. Fine work!

I have been to Ipoh years ago. I like the flattened perspective from the zoom lens. Good sharpness, color, & tropical lighting. Well done!
