This is surprising to me. At this time and place, i can still find wooden clogs being sold. I used to remember a long, long time ago wearing this type of clogs when I was small. They are made of wood, not so heavy and i remember that they are NOT slippery even when walking on wet places. When new, they will raise my overall height by about 2 inches which can make you feel a little taller, stronger ;-)

I dont know if these are imported from other countries like China or made in Malacca but they sure look colourful and here it seems I can get all types and sizes! Now I wonder who buys these and for what purpose, I don't recall seeing any people in Malacca wearing them ....

Hi Tan,
Interesting daily scene, well taken and very clourful, a personn in this shot would add life at this view.

Hello Tan,

Those "terompah" were practical things to use when you had to go to the outside well for a bath. And yes they are not slippery & they protect your feet from picking up sand on your way back to the house. In any case the old traditional houses (Malay) would have a "tempayan" - a water container to wash your feet again before your climb the "tangga" to enter the house. I remember all these on my visits to my grandparents' house when I was small. Well, those clogs are colorful compared to the old plain clogs. You took this from a good angle by having the display in the diagonal.. Too bad the shop keeper is not seated behind the display. Interesting capture with strong lighting & sufficient sharpness.

Regards,

Latiff.

Hello Tan,
Hopefully let this tradition will last for a while!
It's good to see this sort of store still exist in the modern world!
very good clarity with vivid colour and details
well done and well seen

Hi Tan,

Great, colourful shot with a nice story!

Greetings
Aga

Hi Tan,
A shot full of colours and a strong one too. The repetition is lovely and the lighting under good control. You could have waited for the owner to appear and possibly a buyer just to show that the business is thriving and still going strong. Just a suggestion. Lovely shot!!
Regards

the picture is full of flamboyant colour! my grandmum used to have pairs of wooden clogs. unlike most of the flip-flops are made of rubber, when u walk with a wooden clogs, the sole is making sound like 'kit-ko kit-ko', really lovely :). think that somebody appear in the frame can make the photo more 'human', anyhow the photo still nice!

Dazzling to the eyes, catching colors

buying at urge of moment?

TFS

Beside being colourful Tan, these clogs pronounce your incoming presence. These utility slippers serve its purpose well and made of sturdier material and elevated, they probably see more action in the kitchen, bathroom and backyards of kampong homes. There are things that just stand their ground don't they Tan.

The budding action photographer is fine and well shooting action and stuff in KL Tan. Her camera made it too, by the way.
Yes, I was naughty too. :)
