NARROW CONGESTED STREET

Malacca - the most historical place in Malaysia. Here there are lots of places with great history, the Portugese, Dutch and British fighting for domination over this place in early settlement days. Due to the diversity of the occupants of this place, there are many interesting buildings and places with cultures related to those civilisations.
Today in spite of its development over the few hundred years, there are still many streets and lanes in the centre of the town that remain similar. One of the things you will notice in Malacca are the narrow roads and different buildings even in the same row each with its own significance and features. It is absolutely interesting to just walk down these streets and observe the various types of businesses and architecture of the individual buildings. You will be amazed at what you will find in this area.
This photo is of one of the most famous street in town centre named Jalan Bunga Raya. This is the street where a lot of shopping is done even in the early days. You will notice the number of signboards fighting for the shopper's attention. One side for car parking and the other just enough for one car to pass through - its that narrow! On certain days like today which is a Sunday, jams like this is common as a lot of visitors comes from oversea countries to visit historical Malacca. A lot of visitors from local Malaysian states comes here as well during such weekends.
Food is plentiful and cheap. Hotels are plentiful for the backpackers right up to five star ones.
To truly know Malacca, you are encouraged to stay for a few days and really walk through the places! |

Hello Tan,
Good representation of a narrow & chaotic traffic on the narrow street. Very good light management. This section of the street also reminds of the main street of my hometown. Latiff.
Hi Tan.
Nice photo representing the air of Malacca.
Fine foods and sea breeze..
And narrow streets.
Hamamatsu where I live had been famous for ist narrow streets too.
"Streets of Hamamatsu don't allow two rickshaws go side by side."

Hi LC
Great composition and POV.
I find that most old towns have this phenomenon of narrow streets and old historical shops passed down for generations.
In all the older towns of Sarawak, there is such a place, it is normally very much 'chinatown' core.
TFS, cheers
Bill
