This is the emblem found on the small fountain at the Stadhuys right in the heart of old Melaka Town.
Clearly visible are the three symbols representative of what the British called the "Straits Settlements".
Melaka or Malacca symbolised by a twig from the Melaka tree. Pinang or Penang symbolised by the Pinang Tree. Singapore symbolised by the Lion; derived from Singa meaning Lion and Pore probably a mispronunciation of Port ). |
