Photographer’s Note
This friendly man was walking around historic Melaka when my girlfriend and I were there last month. We got up so early to take pictures of sunrise - 4:30. We thought we were getting up at 5:30 (hard-to-read watch) and the sun didn't come up until 7. Aigoh! We were walking back to the hotel when this man stopped us to say hello.
People were so friendly in Melaka. I think it's because the city was recently named a "World Heritage" site by UNESCO. It is a wonderful place - my favorite city of four weeks traveling through Malaysia and Philippines.

josh,
a couple of constructive observations...
watch your shadow!
f3.5 potentially limited depth of field just a little causing a slight unfocus.
Potentially a wonderful photo, great character, good composition...
thanks for sharing

Hey Josh, it's a nice portrait and I don't understand why it's been overlooked by people, apparently - you've only had one critique on this so far. The face is very interesting and well captured. Shame about the slight lack of sharpness - I used to do this to my portrait photos a lot, and still do, unfortunately. It'll probably resolve with experience, but for now I just tend to take many similar photos, and look at them at home - those camera displays are so small, you won't always notice slight lack of focus on them.
