Taken the day after I bought my current lens to test how it handles a macro shot. I 'm quite happy with it. This is my first macro upload. Most of my photos are of landscapes. Not really keen on macros but I got some.
Shot at Hutan Simpan Bukit Kiara (or Bukit Kiara Forest Reserve), a small park in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. It is one of the four parks in the area but the one least frequented by the public.
Focal Length: 85/1 mm
PS: Lens is not new anymore. It was when I took this shot.

your first macro is very very good! I like a lot the position of the wings and golden colour.

WOW! That's a very nice capture. Very sharp with wonderful bokeh! Lovely golden dragonfly.. Great job!

this is a very good capture. u have managed to keep the whole of the dragon fly in sharp focus. however, i feel that the light is a bit harsh.

Un peu plus nette le fond et la photo aurait été plus que parfaite, je dis bien plus, car parfaite, elle l'est déjà !

As you knew that I actually started with Macro photography and now trying out in Landscapes & Potraits, I really think the DOF is ver well done with a 17-85mm lens. It is not difficult though at 85mm focusing distance but you are definately close to get the subject to fly away. Your skill is definately good and the golden tail dragonfly really did shines in your photo.

very intresting shot you made, although there is a lot of macro mode photo on TE, I have to say this one is proffessional one,
take care of your great new lense and enjoy it.
Thanks for sharing

Finally a picture from Malaysia from you. I've been waiting. This is a nice change from your landscape shots and it is of high quality too. Excellent close up, sharpness, dof, and the use of the rule-of-thirds. The shot is crisp and clear.
Looking forward to more Malaysian shots from my fellow Malaysian.

It's very nice try. :) Although I can't tell many smart things about macrophotography, I think that it would be better to leave more place before the object rather than behind it.
And I think you should post it on TrekLens or TrekNature - there you'll get better clues and advices about this kind of photography.

It will be sometime before I try my hands at macro photography. But looking at your posting, you have done an excellent job - the sharpness, the colour, and most of all, the bokeh.
BTW how do you find the 17-85mm IS lens?
Cheers / Steven

Excellent sharp dragonfly shot. It let you come really close, I haven't been that lucky. Colourful flower looks good too, and it's colours repeat on the background.

Yes, I believe you can keep on working on mocros. Don't ever hesitate because your shot is great! Like a scene from Trek Nature. Congratulations.

I'm a beginner, but this picture seems really perfect to me! These colors are gorgeous, and so are the reflections of light on this golden dragonfly. The background is fine that way.

Oh, hey, Latiff,
you had to have been pretty pleased with this lens after testing it out. This is an aweome macro shot. The detail is spectacular right down to the tiny lines on its wings. The lighting is perfect and you got wonderful bokeh. This is SUCH a nice shot and those little rascals are hard to catch. Great job!! Thanks and kindest regards,
