This is another photo taken in Thean Hou Temple in Kuala Lumpur. There are hundreds of small lanterns tied from one end to another. It must be really colourful when they are lighted up at night.
Took this photo at about 2PM and the sky is quite cloudy. In Kuala Lumpur area, I noticed that best time to get blue sky is in the morning before 9:30AM. I am not sure if my observation will apply in other "cleaner" places with less traffic or industries ?
Didn't do much to this photo, just adjust a bit of lighting, sharpen and resize.
Took this photo in ISO 400 as I forgot to lower the ISO after coming out of the temple. 8-(

I like this shot. Actually, Buddha's birthday is coming in May, I believe, and there will be plenty of chancs to take great photos at Buddhist temples. Im looking forward to that. Your photo is simply great. I love the repetition in the hanging lanterns and the building behind them.

Nice shot of the many lanterns. Try to improve on the angle work. and try to have a night shot version to see the difference.

Great shot there. Very powerful colours - red and orange with a little bit of green cool effect.
I do agree with Eric with the night shot version. Must be quite a different.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chai, A nice capture of the celebration atmosphere in this picture. I like the well lined up repetition in this picture. The traditional well decorated Chinese style gate is well captured as well. A well composed picture with nice clarity, color contrast and depth. Well done.

The different type of lanterns and also the lovely colours make you picture attractive, the sharpness and clarity are fantastic for this difficult image.
Very well done!

Very nice composition Chai, and it proves that some of the best photo ops are right on your doorstep. This temple is just around the corner from where I live and yet I have never photographed it! Your shot gives me the incentive to do so - I will try an early morning or late afternoon shot soon. I hope the lanterns are still there. Cheers . . . David

Hi Chai - fantastic geometry and colour, the reds and oranges work very well, I love the patterns of these orange and tomato lanterns.

Another very nice shot! I like all the little lampions (does this word exist in english?!) and the colors are very nice! imho you should have shown the floor either because like that there is no reference. still a great shot i think.

Hi, Chai! A very nice pic, colorful and well composed. Your pics make me dream about a trip to Malaysia someday. I like this mix of tradition and modernity, old and new, east and west! TFS! Greetings from Rio! Miguel.
