This is a close up of one of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. At one stage, they were the tallest building in the world, and even though they have lost that title, are still extremely impressive.
I'm not happy with the sharpness here, but wanted to post the photo anyway.

A fantastic close-up with details on the KL known towers, Lisa, always amazing to see structures that amazes us of the way it was built.
Great outlines and clearity.

Ciao cara Lisa,
Ah, ha, still grasping onto longstanding fallacies, I see? :)
A lovely close architectural shot of this amazing erection with lovely subtle and subdued colours but wonderful contrasts and exceptional detail.
I'm just wonderfing what Craig will make of this and whether he would find this view a partcularly good one for some of his amazing HDR work? I suspect that he might.
P.S. I like your new profile photo too!

Hi Lisa, nice detail photo of this famous building in KL. I had the opportunity to follow-up the entire construction phase. Do you know that it was built on former horse racoţng course? You have captured excellent details. Have a nice week.

Complimenti mia cara! Un abbraccio!

I like that close up a lot. What a building that played his own role in a lot of action movies. I understand why you wanted to post it.
Have a very nice day

I understand, because this structure is very impressive and beautiful modern building. Your work Lisa, is fantastic even is not sharp like we want to, but it was worth it to see such a building like this one. Indeed is extemely attractive. I like it. Thanks for sharing.
All the best,

It is refreshing to view the Petronas Twin Towers from a different perspective (as in yours here) than how it is usually presented.

this building is really fascinating....
so high, huge..but this cropping makes it look like something so small and detailed...until you realize that distance and cropping itself can fool eyes and perception
PS: heading for dark Africa this summer :)

Very fine detail of those impressive and unique towers. Well taken, have a nice day.

excellent crop and a fascinating shot, it jumps out in the T/nails. The symmetry and shapes are mesmerising and the overall effect both intriguing and powerful. Bravo!

Effective tight framing with adequate sharpness. Good repetition of patterns designs & shapes. I can see a green tint in some of the windows from the fluorescent lighting. Superb graphism and a different pov to the usual wide angled shots of this building. Tfs!
macjake (52232) 2012-06-20 20:18
hmmm....not too often do we get to see a 100% architectural photo from you - perhaps you were in a daze? or perhaps there were no landscapes to be seen? lol
I love it though, you know that.
Reading John's note about trying it in HDR, it interests me for sure, but there's alot of bright white light on this building, making the HDR very difficult.
What i like the most about the structure, are the repetitive forms and lines.
Its great to have one way or the other - strong singular lines in various geometric shapes, or one form repeated over and over - like this one.
As for the sharpness, its funny...sometimes using the F22's and F29's at the maximum focal length of your lens isn't the best idea. At the maximum focal lengths, its better to use the sweet spot, normally in the F8 - F11 range. At least thats been my experience, and its why i usually do both to cover my ass.
For sure its an attractive shot, clearly grabbing the viewers attention, even from the small thumbnails.
any other compo's? I can see a whole bunch of options for compos' even from this one cut. keep them coming!

I love big buildings, and I really love your capture here. the way the detail fills the perfectly chosen vertical fram is excellent and intriguing. It almost seems like a magic picture, and if I look hard enough with one eye closed, I might see a hidden message :)
photoray (10227) 2012-06-21 6:09
From your thumbnail view, I thought of a closeup of old IBM computer internals, at first...
Believeitornot, I am also a fan of architecture, even though my soul is in Nature. Old school days in LaLa land brought back by your fine up close geometric composition, and silver and light blue hues.
Have an excellent weekend,
Royaldevon (26629) 2012-06-21 6:41
This is a most unusual shot for you and one that I found quite intriguing as a thumbnail. I can see that it is a sharp close-up of a section of an imposing building but, you know, it reminds me so much of those coiled springs that were a children's toy; I think they were called 'slinkies'.
The repetition of shape and line makes an interesting pattern.
Have a lovely day,

Ciao cara Lisa
Bellissima geometria colorata a curve e linee armoniose.

Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buon fine settimana,

Ciao LIsa, fantastico closeup, magnifica grafica e splendida nitidezza, brava, buon week end, ciao Silvio

Wonderful closeup shot, once the tallest structure in the world, lovely crisp lines and shapes make superb geometric image. Very well composed and framing in subtle lighting and needless to mention, the silvery color is a sure winner here and when scrolled up and down the effect is mesmerising! Well done

Namaskar dear Lisa,
I like the visual effect here. Nice geometry with curves and lines. I like the way you have cropped to show the minute details. Great job Lisa.
