Photographer's Note

This is the gopuram or tower of the Sri Mahamariamman temple in Kuala Lumpur. It is the oldest place of Hindu worship in the country, originally built in 1873 and this tower was completed in 1972 in the south Indian style. It stands 22.9 metres and includes 228 different idols, all created by S.T. Muniapppa who oversaw work by a group of artisans from South India.
