Bak Kut Teh or 肉骨茶 is one of the favorite meal for Chinese community, actually many Indians also like it, many Indians eating in this Bak Kut teh's restaurant too. This is not a Halal food, so Muslims lost the chance to taste it, I think Jewish also.
Just like it name 肉= meat, 骨 bone, and 茶= tea, Bak Kut Teh is soup cook with pork and chinese medicine herbs (tonic). The complete set is including also rice, vegetables, Tofu and you tiao.
During the period spreading of pigs' disease, pork was replace by chicken and rename as Chik Kut Teh, but it can not be, because it is not delicious as original flavour.

A good introduction to the menu, I have eaten in Many different Chinese restaurant, but this has to be the first time I heard of the dish. It sounded like Chau Chow the way it pronounced. It doesn't look as pretty as other dish, but as we know looks can be deceptive especially when it comes to Chinese food. It looks like there is flame on the bottom to keep it warm. like hoaquao style.

Olá Ally, this is quite an original photo and post. To be honest, this is not so much appealing to me except for the lonely mushroom, but I would try it just to know the taste of it. Maybe I could be surprised. In fact, I usually don't eat meat but I'm not too stricked about it. In argentina, I had to taste their meat of course. Excellent photo here and nice complementar WS. The red makes a great background.

Hello Ally, frankly speaking if I live in this part of the world I will die of hunger :))) Of course the Chinese cuisine is one of the richest in the world, for sure many of the food are very delicious to some. But for my taste it's diferent. However I could try one day "Chik Kut Teh" which you mentioned in your note :)
Nice post which serve one of the main goals of this site: "learning the world through photography".
Kind regards, Tolga

Original as a subject and superb in terms of presentation. The light management is brilliant, with those Red, Gold & Blacks to steal the show. A real eye-catcher in all its simplicity. TFS! Have a good day, I'll be seeing you.

Do you know where to find a good one?
Where is the best BKT? I had tried it in Klang and also PJ old town, Subang Jaya, old-time Paramount Garden/PJ.

A 'mouth-watering' photo!! It was hard to guage from the thumbnail what this photo was all about. However, this looks really delicious.

I am puzzled here... Didn't you already post this one? Well, maybe it was one alike.
Food being a fundamental part of every culture, TE should have much more posts like this one.
It looks delicious! I am very sad for the Muslim and Jews, as pork is one of the most tasty meat I know.
