The qpo (旗袍), qpor (旗袍儿), or ch'i-p'ao, often known in English as the cheongsam or mandarin gown, is a body-hugging (modified in Shanghai) one-piece dress for women. In the 17th century, Manchurian conquerors (Qing Dynasty) who invaded the Ming Dynasty created a law that outlawed the native Hanfu clothing and replaced them with the Qipao.
