I've said this before, but by far and away the greatest gift Malaysia gave me, was its people. I was struck by their friendliness and sweetness. That three religions and races (Malay, Chinese, Indian - Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu) can co-exist more or less peacefully within the one country, is a lesson to us all. This little lady was taking part in the New Years Day Hindu celebrations at Batu Caves. Her parents very kindly allowed me to take photos of her and her adorable big brother.

A beautiful expression on her, Lisa, and a beautiful ceremony! I love the color and brightness in the shot, and your closeup is wonderful.
Southeast Asia is amazing in its contradictions - a country like Malaysia which has this tradition of coexistence next to or nearby other nations that are nearly polar opposites. Certainly worthy of study!

Ciao Lisa, cutie pie again:). How she looks, wonderful. Fantastic expression, and the eyes are marvelous, and smile so lovely. It must be near the temple - we see lying shoes. Yes, tolerance is wonderful thing, but too rare.
My feet start to itch:) already.

Ciao cara Lisa,
I remember your having taken some lovely shots of this little girl before and shown them to us, and here the close crop(I mean of the picture, not just of her hair!) and her posture just drives our attention toward those two huge gorgeous dark eyes of hers. And what a wonderful warm and cute smile she has too!
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness against a nicely out of focus background.

che occhioni penetranti che ti sei portata a casa da quel viaggio, proprio un bel souvenir, molto bello e originale.

What a little sweetie, very much enjoyed the way you moved down and close to her eye level, sharp in focus and softness of diffuse bg. Isn't she adorable, indeed a lovely portrait of the innocent and the great smile but the eyes have it. Nicely positioned and exposed and the religious paint of her head is a real plus point, a shot one to be proud off. Congrats, tfs.

Howdy Kuala Lumpur Lisa,
Fine candid of the attractive young Malaysian, with a wide smile and expressive eyes.
And good to know sharing works and no evil deeds.
PS: On my short sojourn to Oz in 2005, I stayed a few nights in a cabin in the Blue Mountains and drove to Sydney for day times.

This is an excellent lucky child with great eyes photo. Captured in superb light and very nice pose.
You are right about Malaysia. I was working there 20 years and now I'm living there more than 6 moths every year, I like this country.
Also many thanks for your info about bribery, but this does not surprise me. Very common also in Europe. Some people have never enough.
But anyhow, I like this sweet photo..
p.s. Sorry for delayed comments, but I do not have internet access every day.

A beautiful portrait, this smile is amazing. And what a contrast to your post of the mine too, here you show and speak of the bst side of human nature, and it's a refreshing thing to get a positive feel for the species wee find ourselves a part of. The light was very good for this excellent candid style portrait.

Isn't she a doll. Those eyes and the sunshiny smile and off course the yellow outfil. I would just adopt her. My partner and I are thinking of having a child...will see. So kids get alot of my attention now. It is amazing how people change you attitude about a country. For example in Norther Ethiopia, we encounter very unfriendly people, event children were not as friendly. When I went to the southern part, they were the opposite, they changed my opinion. I met really nice and friendly people that make the trip so much better.
Thanks for you condolences. I'm still sad at times, but doing much better and back to normal.
