Reng Mount - Revisit Photo

Photographer’s Note

Reng Mount/Hill or Gunung Reng is situated at Batu Melintang, Jeli, Kelantan. The photo is the written version of the start of the Legend. Legend says this is the last known residence of the Majestic Princess Saadong .
This is my second post of the hill. This one is captured with a wide angle, and it seems to give a bluer sky.
This hill is by the East-West highway. I stopped my car about 100meters away and walked to the bridge to capture this shot.

Hi Foozi:

I love the angle you took for this photo. It emphasized the beauty of the rock. The composition is simply amazing. My only comment is it's too much saturated.

Hi Foozi,

I am going to guess the blue sky you got comes from the angle you are to the sun .. and that the sky is exposed nicely at the expense of the darkness of the shadows .. I might crop the bottom up a bit to get rid of the black area of shadow on the bottom .. that said a bit of those contrasty shadows is really effective .. it adds to the feeling of power of this beautiful rock .. beautiful and powerful place .. well found point of view .. very nice. take care, John

Photos of rivers taken from a bridge have the built-in advantage of being able to use the perspective of the river to lead the eye into the scene. Very good shot of the huge rock and yes the sky is blue and not cyan. As John says the position of the sun from the side would help there. However, having said that I have found that PPing my Nikon shots in PS I often have to adjust the sky colour slightly from cyan>blue, whereas PPed in Nikon Capture (less user friendly) the blues are fine. I haven't read anything about that, just my personal observation.

A very impressive geographical feature, and a stunning photo of it. Great point of view and well composed to place the hill slightly off-centre. I like the light and shadows, and the details of the rock face. Perhaps I would suggest cropping a little from the bottom.

This is a stunning landscape image. Love the mountain right by the river with rich tropical trees and vegetation. Great composition, beautiful sky, good colors. It is a little too dark in some area. I think a little lighter would be perfect and this is among your top 10.

Hi Foozi,

The diagonal line of the river is an asset to the composition. The point of view takes my eyes toward Moun Reng and toward the other mountain in the background which is giving depth to the photo. The luminosity is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.
