Photographer’s Note

Nature has turned the busiest junction in the area into where three 'rivers' meet since yesterday.

The monsoon has a different way of inundating low level neighbourhoods along the estuary of the mighty Kelantan River. Rain is minimal. It's only the wind which foretells locals of the imminent flood. It's sort of giving untrained minds a sense of mystery but the strong wind really brings rain to the interior parts of the State, filling the smaller rivers upstream so much they can no longer hold.

As a result, the mighty Kelantan swells up. As its flow nears the river's mouth, it spills over and the adjacent areas unite, submerged in the mixture of water and mud.

I'm capturing the flow using a slow shutter setting. The lighting is provided by the yellow streetlight. Indeed the flood is not that severe this time around. They need not cut the power supply.

Notice the unmistakably Kelantanese 'moon' on the buntings near the water level indicator.

Enjoy.
