Photographer’s Note

This is another picture of the Sikh wedding in Alor Star in addition to the one I posted yesterday. The ceremony was rather long so the kids started to play, but nobody bordered, it is very normal that kids join their parents for all occasions.

The Sikh wedding is generally held in Gurudwara, amidst the preacher of the religious place, family, friends and relatives. When it comes to a Sikh wedding, the festive ambiance is set a week before the ceremony. The groom's sister and the bride's father play a prominent role during the wedding ceremony, apart from the family members. The Sikh marriage is a simple, yet elegant occasion wherein various rituals are followed before, during and after it. In the case of this Sikh wedding in Alor Star, the Gurudwara is rather small and as it was billed to be the Sikh wedding of the year, a conference room of a local hotel was converted into a Gurudwara.
