Photographer’s Note

When ever I walk by this mosque I have to pause and look at it. I really like its architecture and the lovely setting. It's the mosque of the sultan of the state of Kedah, where official functions are held. Build in 1912 it is - as far as I know - the oldest mosque in Kedah and most probably one of the most beautiful.

Nice photo of the mosque at sunset. I'm not sure if I had seen this mosque before but then again I only passed through Alor Star on my way to some place else. Really nice architecture which reminds me of the Moorish Islamic architecture of some older buildings in KL. It could not be the oldest mosque in Kedah because Islam arrived in Kedah much earlier. Have a nice weekend in Alor Setar. Oh ... I think weekend starts on Friday there. Regards. Latiff.

Hallo Urs,
I like the atmosphere of the sunset in this capture, which is combined by the image of the splendid architecture of the mosque, cut away on the sky with a few beautiful hues.
The luminosity and the colors have a good level of quality.

Hi Urs,
Wonderful light, that seems quite suitable to the charming architecture of the mosque, a lovely, peaceful atmosphere. It looks a little tilted, but that isn't enough to harm the great charm of the image.

Hi Urs,

I always do the same every time I passed by this mosque but will always failed to take pictures because I was always passing from the main road. You have chosen a fine angle here away from the business of the street and the x-crossing cables. The colors are amazing and the glow is just perfect. Beautiful shot and TFS.

Very fine shot in the twilight hour! The dusky image of the mosque with details clearly visible, the gradation of colours in the sky, the silhouette of the domes. Very nice!

Hi Urs,
this is a lovely view of the mosque. I have been thinking of shooting it. Well such a lovely depiction in great green foreground. As for me the best view seems to be in front, but I saw a lot od lines and unnatural elements eg lights anf so on. This one is clean and neat.
A nice presentation, What about al-Bukhary Mosque next?
