Padang Sanai is a small village in northern Kedah near the Thai border. The main income of the population are rubber and palm oil plantation. Thailand is just 20 minutes by car. Consequently it is not a surprise that there is a Thai Buddhist monastery, the Wat Pachit Tharam. The most impressive part of the complex is the gateway in the photograph. Only few monks live there. Their most valued friends obviously are stray dogs, as there are very very few visitors.

The architectural motif is great in any case, dear Urs. But your introduction of humans and dogs is fantastic idea and best realization. Can I say, it is one of your best post, friend. Two points for you and two smiles for Malaysia.

Hello Urs,marvellous colors and all important sharpness to show all those intricate details. Is that elephant real or a statue?Everything seems to be well maintained.Interesting scene, all the best Wolf.

This is an impressive gateway, decorated delicately and with considerable opulence. The statue of the massive Asian elephant behind the fence catches one's eye, as does the appearance of the two young monks seemingly serving as shepherds for the stray dogs. In Buddhism doesn't the reincarnation of the soul exist prominently, and is there not a belief that all life is recycled. Could it be that even these dogs are perceived as humans in a previous life? I know so little about the religion/philosophy of the Buddhists.
