You have a lovely colored and textured sky here, Bill.I can see why you chose this viewpoint to include the whole of the tree, that makes this 'L' shaped composition.The red of the boat is potentially lovely against the cool of the sea and the sky and the golden sands. I don't think you boarder, top and bottom , helps this picture in any way. Also I find it has a reddish color cast, which detracts from the brilliance of the color. I have tried a WS to alter the color cast, which , to my eye, looks better.(hope you don't mind) However, I think that this is a fine presentation of this restful and lovely island. regards kevin

According to all schoolbooks this would be nr one example in how to make a working composition. and that makes even a rather simple motive in flat light a facelift and take it to an other division.

Hey Bill,

That right here, is the perfect vacation island, I must say. I like the colors, that are subtly sepia-like, and that creates a slightly nostalgic feeling. Beside that the composition is perfect, the depth is exceptional, and everything is in its place also.

A very nice well balanced composition with a pleasing harmony to it. I like the sense of animation and the tall curving palm that seems to be leaning over towards the boat. Very good light, colours and clarity.

hello bill,

very lovely and beautiful scene here. i like the colors, the compositional setting adn the light. the only problem i have is the sky. for some reason, it has obtained grayish tint and has rendered the background feeling 'flat' (it almost seems as if the sky starts right behind the palm tree). i suspect, it's a side effect of the polarizing filter, which otherwise has done an excellent job managing the light and reflections off the waves.

this photo is really beautiful!The morning light gives superb warm colours to the landscape!The beach is like a paradise with its clear turquoise water,the coconuts,and the beautiful sky!The red boat gives a superb contrast,and I like the very low horizon!It's your pictures that decided me to buy some planes tickets to come to Borneo,but it seems very dificult to organize this trip!

Hi Bill,

A nice morning activity with dramatic sky. Due to your circular polarizer the mid-tones are darker than usual. The contrast of shadows over the ground and water did not show much. So at first glance, it looks like there is no sun at all.

I could do any watercolor painting as my new computer is still not working properly (Windows Vista OS). A printer and several sofwares are not compatible with it. I am doing this now on my old computer. I am also designing a house remodelling for a cousin-in-law in the Philippines. It may take me months to get to doing it.

This is a well composed shot. The inclusion of the tall leaning palm tree on the left is great. The lighting and colors are fantastic with nice sharpness and detail.
