Photographer’s Note
I don't know the name of the mosque. It's a pity we've only stayed there for 3 days, and the only trip to town was to go to a restaurant and an open market (not so nice). Anyway, I managed to capture this one from the van we were in (dirty windows, as always I am unlucky for this matter). It was sunset.
Did some crop. Autolevels, Brightness and Contrast.
As you see, I'm improving in my PS (thanks to TE), or at least learning how to do more tasks with this SW.

You did well under the circumstances-- one should never dismiss the opportunity to shoot out of a car window if that's all there is (unless you're doing the driving).
Your eye for the lighting paid off- wonderfully soft evening light, the pinkish reflection of the setting sun and on the side of the building is great. Autolevels has worked well for you here but I think the building is still a bit grey though the sky is fine.
I was going to suggest that you crop out the railing from the roadside but then I reread your note and the it just adds to the rushed theme of your short visit-- you didn't have enough time to fully appreciate this town and this shot reflects this disappointment fully.

This is the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, located in a suburb called Likas. It is built on a lagoon and on the other side of the road where you were, is the Wetland.
3 days is definitely not enough to get around in Sabah. Tell you what, next time you are coming, sent me a message.
And you could ask to stop the van for this photo opps. Most locals would be happy to oblige and help you out.

Good shot under the circumstances, the pink clouds are great and the mosque is reasonably sharp. I also agree with mking about the added effect of the blurred railing.
We almost made it to Kota Kinabalu for our honeymoon earlier this year, but in the end decided to stay in Europe and went to Barcelona and Nice instead, which was quite nice I might add... But we still need to go to Malaysia some time soon!
