Place. Giam River is at Padawan area of Borneo highland and 1 hour drive out of Kuching. It is predominantly Bidayuh village based on farming and fishing.

River + Boat. To make it feel like moving, the tripod was placed in the water and camera aimed at low angle with slow shutter to capture the flow of water, right behind the boat. River water was flowing fast enough to shake the tripod. A polariser was used to reduce glare of reflection. Stare into the water just behind the boat, what do you visualise? When walking into the water, the strong current on the feet can be felt. At this hour, the day's work is done and boats tied up at rest. Thank you for viewing.

Hi Bill!
I like the dynamism here and your low POV.Nice perspective at these boats and great depth. What an effort with the tripod placed in the water, but the result was worth it.A great shot with good natural colors and a nice, tight framing.
Regards,Leo

Hey!

Great job in creating the atmosphere and the sense of moving. Excellent use of the camera - shutter and aperture. Lovely focus, and a fine cadre in general, a fine "experiment" all around.

See you.

Hi Bill,

Hello Bill,

Your POV is excellently worked and created an interesting capture. Great addition of colorful boat at front and good setting of exposure. Nice effect of flowing water gives easily recognizable sense, power of water there. Very good one, congratulations.

Hej Bill
a nice picture from the interior, gives a good idea of those jungle streams an the clearness that maybe indicate that theres no big logging in the closest area anyhow.
fine color of the boat aswell.

Selamat Malam zzzz

Hi Bill,
I'm not sure. What is this behind the boat?

Beautiful!! I love the colors and reflection! TFS

Hi Bill,
Superbly composed ... the rushing water giving dynamism and the way you've positioned the boats creating a lovely line of vision ... just awesome! This is an excellent photo both technically and aesthetically! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Olá Bill,
devagar, mas vão longe esses barcos, apesar que no caso da foto parecem estar bem amarrados. Gostei do efeito de movimento que você conseguiu na água.
Parabéns e Abraço!

An arresting image, Bill. The sharpness of the boat and its clear blue color look good against the fast flowing water. The shape and positioning of the boat in the frame are really beautiful.I don't think the area of black border at the bottom helps, because it looks like part of the picture and so distorts the proportions, which look about right. regards kevin

Hello Bill. You have perfected the shutter speed here with the rushing water in good perspective against the super sharp sampan. Well positioned right up the top frame. Best regards. Jusni

Hi Bill,

very good shot. Technically well done and visually a lot attractive. I like the dynamism of the shot with the blurred water and the strong perspective of the boat. Well done!
Regards,
Carlos

Hi, Bill. The two boats make an ideal diagonal line in your composition. The idea of speed is well suggested by the fast flowing water in the foreground. The colours and contrasts are good and there is a good balance between low and high lights.

Hi Bill,
Love this shot of the traditional river boats with the fast river rushing by. Beautiful clear crisp colors with magnificent details to this beautiful nature photo.
Regards, Tom

Hi Bill,
I like the effects achieved with long exposure, here you had to select the right speed to get water motion but not blur the boats, and you succeeded well.
Have a nice day JY

hello bill

wonderful scene and your framing. and a good idea to show the boats with the slow exposure, letting the water flow :) does bring about a feeling of motion. the boats must have been rather steady though, given how sharp they are.

with warm regards,
kristaps

Hello Bill.
Great shot this one. The effect you achieved by your well explained method is remarkable. I like the fact the boats stayed still enough to give you the sharpness you needed for this photo. It looks great, full of energy and light and shade. You got an amazing viewpoint and perspective with your positioning of the tripod. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Bill! what a beautiful picture! I like the two boats composed this way, and their colors.
The stream is moving under you, lovely to see it so well. Bravo!!

Hi Bill,
Ingenious title for this beautiful photography, very good photographic technology and excellent colors.
The photography looks like an invitation to raise ourselves to these boats and crossing the image downstream, a great POV!
The contrast of tonalities is excellent.

Salut,

Jordi

Bil, j'aime l'effet de vitesse et les couleurs sur la rivière. Les deux barques sont très fines et contribuent à la beauté de l'ensemble.
Jacques

Hi Bill,
What I like most here is the planning and visualization before taking this shot. The specific aim that you have is reflected in this very effective work and I am sure you get the satisfaction despite having to get your feet wet. I always enjoyed boats and this is no exception. Splendid shot!!

Do have a great Monday.
