[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
8.41a.m. – In my earlier post on Lawas I have mentioned that every town in Sarawak has a mascot and you will see one when as you enter the town. Here in Sibu the main mode of transportation is by river so this statue of the swan is erected at the waterfront. Despite the building of the Trans Borneo Highway stretching across the length of Sarawak, water transport still remain popular to cater for those living along the banks of this swan river and its tributaries. For this reason the swan is selected to reflect the identity of this town being the largest situated along the river. This river is the longest in Malaysia and is now known as the Rajang River.

Hi Aloysius,
Good picture of the statue of this swan. The foreground is a bit dark, but I think you managed it well given the what seems to be not very easy circumstances. Very good inclusion of the tree in the top of the photo. And nice to see a bit of the daily life in the foreground too. Thanks for sharing!
Regards,
Lars

hi Ho

My hometown. I had a shot of this but messed up the focus so it was not worth a post. This is a good pov and angle, I like the tree at top as framing. It is always found that people come here to fish.

I had a workshop just to lighten up the FG area's loss of details.

Good work. TFS

Hello Ho,
Delighted to see your beautiful posting of Sibu!
nicely controlled on the exposure and focus in this shot!
great use of the tree branches as framing over the mascot!
well done
greeting to you and family
Tony

Hello Aloysius,
An amazing sculpture of the swan!
An interesting story behind, and the dominating sculpture really stands out by the riverside...
Good colours and sharp details, a well balanced composition with a good feeling of depth!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Aloysius,

Good picture of the statue of this swan together with the fishermens.
My question Aloysius; used you HDR?
Composition and colours are very well, certainly the leaves that you use as frame to above together with the green colours care for a attractive picture.
Thanks for sharing.

Have a nice day,
John.

A little kitch and unreal but funny and interesting. The contrast with the fishermen who don't care is really great. Strange...
