TE Post No.90 - Island Road, Sibu, one of the oldest street dating back to pre-war era.

The Methodist wesley church with this new white tower addition to the original building. Behind it is the misionary Methodist Primary School. The Sentosa Inn signboard is illusive, it actually is in front of tower. Along this road, banks, clinics, timber companies, trading, news media and many old business establishment. At the end of road is the port and old hospital where the colonial administration stood. Town hall is now trying to rejuvenate this street, with an exhibition center to the left side and improvement to sidewalk in progress, as most visitors will not find this corner that popular yet.

Earlier post of church+temple was from another angle. Shot on a fine-weather of saturday morning and business as usual.

You can see the traffic where pedestrain walks across the road regardless of cars moving along, as mentioned in post here Hometown.

Thank you for viewing and reading. Regards, Bill

Hi Bill,

I like the inventive frame; it is a bit of an imbalance at first glance but works here because it seems to complement the towering church. That is quite a tall structure, as you can see it next to cars and people for comparison. I like, as you mention, the relaxed pace of life and laid back feel. The wash of blue sky between the two portions of grey is attractive and combines neatly with the red paint. The low profile of the streetscape works very well here. Congratulations, I am enjoying this hometown series.

It seams to be a very quite town, the same way I found Miri to be. And from what you are showing here I would say that Sibu is also a very nice city. I like the way you managed the whole church without cropping anything, I mean, the cross. Well done.

Hello Bill,

The church spire is a very strong focal point in this image and anchors the image very well. I think its height is prominent in this street as it seem to tower over all the other buildings. The image is excellent because is clear and sharp. The colours seem very natural and add to the appeal of the image. Well composed with excellent depth and interesting elements. Thanks Bill.

Hello Bill,
It is a very alive image of this street under a beautiful sky and beautiful colors. I like the very geometrical shapes of the church. Very beautiful capture. Cheer.
Have a nice day and weekend

Hi Bill, judging from that steeple, this one had to be a portrait format. I like this composition, with the church tall against the right side. Your perspectives are excellent, perfectly straight, so you must have been doing some correcting there. The colour is great with very good contrast seen between the church steeple and that great blue sky, and you're giving us the business as usual look on the street. Nice shot.

Thanks, John

Hello Bill,
This tower of the church seems very near of the sky.Very good composition and beautiful colours.

Hello Bill,

Interesting Island road view which looks more foreign than local. Stunning composition putting the road in the middle and just looking good against the sky.

Hi Bill,
Lovely view of the city. The tower of the church adds to the feel. I loved the open blue sky that is predominant here.
Good shot!!

Sagarneel.

I took a shot at this church building too but at a different angle. Yours is always nicer. I like the compo with the building on the far right and the vista of Island Road. The sky is great. A very well done street shot. The roof of the bell tower appears a little white washed due to its white colour and bright sunlight

Hi Bill,
Very effective vertical presentation with the high church tower dominating the sky with its contrasting colors. The view down the street brings nice depth to this lovely composition.

Hello Bill
The church spire is a strong focal point. The road is a good perspective & provides good depth. Good daily life scene. And yes, I like your asymmetric framing. Good work Bill.
