[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Religion - Harmony co-existence.

Due to missionaries who came with immigrants and pioneers from China to South East Asia, settled down in Sibu and started religious schools.

Sibu is a town where you can find many churches, but here is one of the oldest Methodist Wesleyan Church just a stone's throw away from the 'Tua Pek Kong' Buddhist temple.

I shot this from the yard of the temple showing a traditional circular pathway, with the church roof high behind.

The purpose is to illustrate how different religious beliefs and practice can co-exist peacefully and harmoniously without harming or disturbing one another.

Perhaps I would be dreaming a day when Israel, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Saudi, Iraq, Iran, Jordan and Middle-East region can become multi-religious and harmonious. Is it not impossible dream? Not so much to discuss about religion itself but how we should be tolerant and accommodate each other.

Thank you for looking. Regards, Bill

Hi Bill,
Beautiful urban landscape with God and commerence seen competing in the skyline. The lovely late hour blue sky blends nicely with the church and bank. Lovely details and contrasting colors to the street below.
Regards, Tom

Hi Bill,
Your dream is not impossible, it's up to us to make it happen. We can all do our bit by spreading tolerance, you've done exactly that. Love the two places of worship, coexisting together, the light is magical too.

Hello Bill,
It is a remarkable image where sky and light have beautiful colors. Your reflexion on the durable coexistence of very different cultures is interesting and I wish that it not be Utopia. Congratulations.

hello bill

i like this one. the white, bright cross agains the blue cast of the sky creates a syrreal feeling... just the car in the foreground is a tad of an annoyance, but brings in a doze of realism too.

as to your message. i am with you, friend. but it's not that simple... especially in middle east... not all world religions are tolerant in their strictest form. neither they are secular neither by original design nor by their modern-day interpretation. unfortunately, until internal reformation from within happens, it's hard to predict when/if truly peaceful coexistence (not assuming control of others by one select) is possible.

sad. i know.

kristaps

Hello Bill,

Aren't we all glad being Malaysian. This is a well captured architecture depicting the harmony and in beautiful colors too. The warm foreground and cooler background makes this a very interesting composition. I like this and Happy Holiday soon,

Interesting notes, good thinking.

I like the compo. The church bell tower is even centrelined with the circular opening of the temple.

And no religion too

I think he was right. You share perhaps the same thoughts for the Middle East (and the wider world) in your note. Religion is such a controversial subject, which is a shame because in its most basic form all religions preach equality and peace and it just does not seem to work in practice.

Good photo showing those contrasts between the neighboring places of worship. Well framed and I like the range of colours and different shapes and lighting. It is an interesting scene to interpret. Thanks for sharing with us Bill.

Ola Bill ,
Interessante foto com um templo e uma igreja juntas , sem duvida as religiões podem conviver em paz e com harmonia sem haver guerras estupidas entre eles , parabéns!!!

Interesting photo with a together temple and a church, without doubts the religions can coexist in peace and harmony without having dull wars between them, congratulations!

Um abraço Gonçalo

You have a good dream Bill. But sadly, there is no night where such a dream would grace your sleep. Let alone, becoming real and into their lives, just yet. The only thing you can do is to live the dream that us Malaysian, continue to honor and cherish each other companies, even though we have more or less the same differences as those with the middle eastern.
Sincerely, even though we are considered a young civilization compared to those in the middle east, they probably need to learn a thing or two, from civilizations much younger than them.

Happy Chinese New Year Bill
