Photographer's Note

Dancers wearing the Bidayuh national costume. I shall assume that she is a Bidayuh as the women from this nation are renowned for their beauty. The Bidayuh account for 8.4% of Sarawak’s population. They were formerly known as the Land Dyaks.
The dance this graceful beauty participated in is usually performed after the harvest season as a form of entertainment for guests at the longhouse.
The photo was taken in a "living village" not far from Kuching in which many tribal longhouses were built and where one can see traditional food, drink, tools, crafts being prepared and customs reenacted.
