Photographer’s Note
My middle name in Chinese character is 春, which also happens to mean Spring; the Chinese New Year starts on the 1st day of Spring. So while the 15-day celebration of CNY is still ongoing till 9Feb, here is a decoration [neon light for night effects] in front of once-known-as Holiday Inn Hotel in town. This word is always in RED for CNY.
In our Chinese tradition as rooted in family line, my generation-level of is using this word as the middle name for mostly the men, while the women do not need to follow the family-tree mainly because the women will marry and adopt the husbands' family tree for names of children.
Pronunciation ceon1 jyutping
chun1 chun3 pinyin
[1] spring; first of the four seasons [2] sensuality; lustful; lewd; pornographic [3] alive; vitality; living [4] joyful [5 youth [6] wine (especially in the Tang dynasty)
Some application of the word
春天 ceon1 tin1 chun1 tian1 = spring
春捲 ceon1 gyun2 chun1 juan3 = spring roll
春卷 ceon1 gyun2 chun1 juan3 = spring roll
石春 sek6 ceon1 = pebble 粵
春裝 ceon1 zong1 chun1 zhuang1 = clothing or apparel for the spring 粵
春心 ceon1 sam1 = sexual desire; (placename) Chun Sum
陽春麵 joeng4 ceon1 min6 yang2 chun1 mian4 = Yangchun noodles
春節 ceon1 zit3 chun1 jie2 = Spring Festival; Chinese New Year
春耕 ceon1 gang1 chun1 geng1 = to plough (U.S.: plow) a field in the spring
春季 ceon1 gwai3 chun1 ji4 = spring season; springtime
It has been raining heavily non-stop for weeks, causing floods and yesterday was the 1st time to have sunny weather, so we went out for shooting in the late afternoon. Many photographers were seen in town!

Hello Bill,
I like this combination of bright green, yellow and red! It is a cheerful combination, and it's nice to see it, especially at the rather gloomy time of the global crisis and during a grey winter day :)
I have always wanted to see the Chinese New Year "in action" - decorations, celebrations... but each time it was impossible for me because I had to be at home and working, at this time when CNY comes! :-/ I was close to it only once, in 2002.. but only close! LOL
Maybe some time in the future...
Kind regards,
Elena

Hi Bill,
People use to say that Portuguese language is one the more difficult among all the languages. I have doubt when I see these chinese characters.
Beautiful middle name of yours.. spring. It's suggestive and beautiful.

Hi Bill
The yellow, red, & green colours, go well together, against the simple, unobtrusive white bg. Good sharpness & composition. Tfs!

Hi Bill! Good new Spring and New Year. I believe that the Chinese characters have a difficulty but want memorization and this give the difficulty. The sound result they is impressive in us that we do not have experience of this type of hearings. Good picture

Hi Bill,
I like the way your middle name is being highlighted in your city. Very good framing is sharp details. The color is natural and I can see you are using more of this zoom with your D700. Good choice of tall frame and well done, Bill.
TFS and have a great weekend,
Jusni

Hi Bill,
I do not know if Chinese send New Year Greetings by post cards. If so, this would be a perfect one. Colourful, really well composed and sharp. TFS and have nice Sunday!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Bill,
Your middle name is seen in glorious mid day light that brings out the vivid colors and sharpness here.
The palm trees make a very nice natural frame for this fine vertical presentation.
I'm learning alot about Chinese culture and hope you are having a lovely new year.
Regards, Tom

Hi Bill,
I wish you a Merry New Year of the Ox.
You produced an interesting compo, combining nicely the decorations with those funny palm trees that seem to have been created to serve as decoration rather than being natural (I know they are natural, I have seen them plenty of times). It's a pleasant image, despite the façade looking a bit boring and the decoration being very simple.
Thank you for the interesting lesson on Chinese alphabet, Mr Spring. :-) Did you forgot to explain the meaning of the character in the decoration, or is it a variation of your middle name? If it is, Chinese is even more complicated than what it looks!
Regards, José.

Bonjour Bill,
simplicité des lignes, sobriété des couleurs.
Une composition toute simple dans laquelle la cadreg joue un rôle essentiel.
