Photographer’s Note
This year happens to be Golden Ox Chinese New Year. Bull, Ox. Super Bowl 43 MVP quarterback Santonio Holmes? The position of the 3 animals here reminds me of yesterday's Super Bowl game in which Pittsburgh Steelers won. The 3 animals are waiting for the ball, playing defense?
Driving in wet weather from Sibu, after passing through steel bridge called Sungei Padeh. Here are the elements of 3 cows/ox about 2hrs from Kuching; it was rainy day. Sarawak has very little farming of sheep or cows for food consumption, and it is rare that we see cows or sheep. Although some villages do have domestic rearing of goats for local consumption, large scale farms of these animals are not found. Therefore, the state relies on imports; all the beef for BigMac or burgers. Beef imports mostly from Australia or USA.
I am not particularly excited about quality of this shot, other than it is Ox year; in fact if I have a choice, it should go to the bin. Honestly speaking, 1.4years later on TE, I am wondering how I can move forward by further improve photography. Any ideas? ISO800, FL130mm

Hello Bill,
I like the allusion to the Super Bowl game, and the players lined up in formation for the upcoming play. It was superb game, and could have gone either way. The 14-point turnaround, coming at the end of the first half could have been fatal for the Cardinals, but they clawed back, making it an extraordinary game. (By "14-point turnaround," of course, I mean where they were about to score, and the ball was intercepted, resulting in a 100-yard run back for a touchdown.) How do you like the Nikon D700, is that the one beyond the D300?
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hey Bill,
I read your note with interest, because cows and their ilk dont really seem that much of equatorial species, or at least I wouldnt think they flourish there (but there is always some special sort of a cow isnt there:). So now I know all about that - you import most of your .. hamburgers. :)
The photo is pretty swell from the technical part too, so dont worry bout the quality.
Best regards.

Good pov to show the greenery fertile land, but these oxes are a bit thin, may be too hard working, thanks for shoot a potrait of oxes' family to sharing at CNY.

Hello Bill, Practice makes perfect, more, more & more photographs is the only advice I can give you & to listen, I know you already to this so keep it up. A simple well balanced scene with the cows nicely placed & forming a triangle, I think the eyes like that. I like your candid thoughts & humour behind this one. Again happy New year.

Hello Bill,
Funny and good shoot while using vivid colored green grasses as naturally attractive background. Are you shooting in jpg? or RAW (NEF in Nikon)? You may add advantages of RAW shoot and the capability of RAW processor. I think ISO 800 is too high for your this shoot and light conditions there. Congratulations.
Friendly Regards,

Hi Bill,
A funny comparison using the three bulls to a position in football, the point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the animals. The light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. have a nice day.

Hello Bill,
no matter if you are "excited" or not about this photo (as you said in the note) but looks like this shot is quite popular with TE members :) Maybe it is because it is funny and kind.
Funny "triangle" and funny identical positions of these oxen :)
Concerning "improving photography", I have only one idea which I try to stick at in any circumstances: I try to feel what is around me - and take more shots than necessary :) the more the better.... :) It's like playing a musical instrument: eternal leaning but lots of practice as often as possible, because it's not only a matter of the "technical" aspect...
Best regards,
Elena

Hi Bill,
I would not want to be running the ball past this formidable defense.
The giant beast are seen in incredible detail and with an expression of determination.
A Happy Ox New Year to you and yours.

Hi Bill. Buy a new lens, I always find that helps! (I’ve got a draw full of them and need to sell some!!) I find a wander round with a small prime lens 28 or 50mm helps also. Nice photo, well balanced composition and natural colours. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill,
Used to be a common sight but disappearing fast around my homeland. The green pasture and the colors of these animals walking loose is so well rendered in this sharp image. Beautifully done with your fav pair of equipment giving out pleasing natural colors.
Have a nice day and I'll be heading for KL tomorrow.

Jusni
