Photographer’s Note
Raining all the time last few weeks here and finding the wet look scenery is no problem. I actually intend to present the new Legislature Building only when it is ready but it seems like a long time to go. I wanted to invert this photo and show the reflection but it will cause some inconvenience to the viewer, so I gave up the idea. I know I should stoop lower to get reflection in full of the building but in the rain, careful not to wet the camera. I stood at the old courthouse converted into a public gallery/auditorium. The memorial stone is placed here to commend the heroes of independence movement against the British colonization. The white fort house across the road is supposed to house the musical fountain control which is now out of order. At left is the look-out tower that is under repair.
If you invert the photo, tell me what you think?
Despite the rain all day today, the evening was suddenly struck with sunset colors around 6.30pm but it was too late for me to rush out/find a place to capture - it lasted only 7 minutes!

Hello Bill!
Although it was raining and the sky was totally grey, you have managed to obtain such an interesting photograph, full of details that really please me! The whole composition is very good, but I specially like the reflection on the wet floor, the inclusion of the person with the umbrella and that big and wonderful tree on the right!
TFS - congratulations!
Warmest regards,

Hello Bill,
An interesting composition of these unusual buildings. The reflections more than make up for the dull sky. The scene is well composed and nicely framed. The lady with the red umbrella contributes to the rainy day mood. I like the diffused light and muted tones. A very pleasing image. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Bill,
L’avantage d’un temps pluvieux c’est qu’il offre comme ici de très beaux reflets,
Tu as très bien fait de masquer la forte intensité lumineuse du ciel par le feuillage de cet arbre,
Au plaisir Bill,
Robert

hello Bill
never mind for the sunset,as you are living in Kuching, you will have others occasions to do some photos!I like here the reflections on the wet pavment,it's more original ,and it's very beautiful too!The lonely person with her red umbrella emphasizes the rainy atmosphere, and gives a nice vivid color in this grey light!I like how you have framed with the big tree on the right, that hides the very pale sky!Very well done!

Hello Bill,
it's a perfect rainy mood! I am simply fascinated by the wet road! I like the reflections, and I also like very much that person with a red umbrella ;) (How very lucky to have captured it in the photo!)
In any case I can almost feel and smell the humid air and I can almost hear the sound of rain.
IMHO, it's an unusual original photo. That huge tree on the right adds a special "tropical" mood to the view :)
best regards,
Elena
PS. I tried inverting the photo... but I prefer the "original" version :)

From the thumbnail I thought is was a lake! Well done for braving your camera in the rain. I wouldn't worry about missing the building on the right from the reflection (It could have been barely visible from mixing with the tree anyway) as the important features like the memorial and the new legislature building are fully reflected. I look forward to a series on that when it is completed.

Hello Bill,
Despite the rain, you had some light and then could capture very nice reflections on the floor.
It is good that you could include someone, giving an idea of scale, but above all, giving life to this nice place.

Olá Bill, very nice effect from the wet pavement. Invert the image could be an interesting exercise for WS but I think I would prefer this version for better reading of the place. I was wondering about pointing the camera a bit more down to take more advantage of this wet FG and at the same time show less of the whitish sky, but I also like the tree foliage. It's a poweful tree that has a strong presence here. My favorite detail: the red umbrella passing by on the hand of that woman.

Hi Bill,
A gloomy weather which offers pretty contrasts all the same and especially of quite pleasant reflections on this tiled ground. This large tree balances the image and the umbrella above this person brings an appreciable small key of color. Interesting glance, thank you Bill.
With all my friendships, by wishing you thus that with all your family of excellent festivals of Christmas,

Hello Bill, The sky looks grey & miserable but you achieved a very interesting & colourful result, the reflections are very complimentary or should I say the main feature & complimented by the the person with the red umbrella & the the tree. A very beautiful & interesting image with good natural looking colour.
Thanks

Great complex composition where everything seems to be on it's place.
Reflections, of course, adds a lot to it!

I liked this vision , the rainny day is nicely shown here, the buildings are interestinga nd the plants are nice to see too, including the personages. I would like to see a pov a little more at left, this way the top of that beautiful building would be totally visible., anyway it is a nice image

Hi Bill,
Although the compo is very well done, I bet that it wouldn't have half the interest if it wasn't for that wet floor. It's a very good photo, with a touch of melancholy given by the emptiness of that amusement park. I admire how you got inspiration to get such a good image in a day like that.
It's intriguing how it looks inclined to the left, but as far as I could check, it actually isn't; maybe it's because of the tree. But that it isn't a flaw, of course.
I followed your suggestion to invert the photo and I was amazed to see how it looked so different but. However, I don't know why, I prefer this version, despite the inverted version presents also a nice visual arrangement. I am just wondering, but maybe because I was already used to the original version, the inverted one looks fake.
Regards, José.

Hi Bill,
The wet plaza with its lovely textured pattern makes an excellent canvas to chatch the reflection of the beautiful Malasian architecture.
Sharpnnes and colors are first rate in this fine rainy day image.

Hi Bill,
The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view leads our eyes toward the monument and toward the buildings in the background. The presence of the person has man effect of scale. The rainy weather is giving a low light which has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Bill,
I'm a traditionalist, I prefer the photo straight, like it is.
I's a nice composition with interesting and unusual architecture and with fine reflections. But without that gorgious tree it would not be so nice! (:-
Best regards,
Donato
