[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Welcome to Kota Kinabalu International Airport. As we landed late afternoon, it was wet and raining which continued for the first few days of our tour journey to Sabah, Land below the wind. This airport is located in the city and the runway has been extended into the sea by reclamation. As the aircraft is about to land when you approach the runway, you will be delighted to see the peaks of Mount Kinabalu on the right and the Manukan Islands on the left. 2008 is designated Visit Malaysia Year, so the aircraft is painted with publicity slogans.

Wet landing Bill and the color on the hazy day always so strong and bright. Nicely captured while taxiing on the runway against the lush green background. The red beacon is reflected nicely on the wet tarmac. Well done and best regards. Jusni

A very clear and sharpened shot. I like the contrast between the white plane and the deep green vegetation on the background. Very good light and colors.

Hello Bill,

I like much the mode on wich the colors of the plane arises in the green vegetation, this is accentued by the beautiful reflections on the tracck.

Good graphism of the white plane, against the dark bg vegetation, with a well managed exposure, that still leaves plenty of detail visible in the highlights. A logical choice of a horizontal format, with superb sharpness & diffused light. Tfs!

Nice plane and indeed quite wet looking conditions. A shot full of local ambience. I was curious about why the year doesn't show on the aircraft. It turns out that it was originally 'Visit Malaysia Year 2007' but the campaign was extended thanks to it's success. But on this one the year was just painted over after it got outdated.
Interestingly my first intercontinental flight was with Garuda Indonesia with label 'Visit Indonesia Year 1991'.

Hello Bill, Nice clear shot on a wet day but the rain enabled you to capture the bright red reflection on the runway, a good addition. Publicity I'm afraid is a necessary evil in today world ;-).
